A curable resin composition comprising (a) an acrylic, polyester, epoxy or polyol resin having a plurality of alkynyl groups, (b) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane, and (c) an amount of platinum catalyst effective to catalyze the crosslink reaction between (a) and (b). The composition is useful for coating and molding purposes and gives a cured product having excellent acid resistance, water resistance and other properties.

The organohydrogenpolysiloxane macromonomer may be incorporated into a single polymer entity together with an alkenyl group-containing monomer unit to produce a self-crosslinkable copolymer.

This invention discloses a curing resin composition comprising (a) an organic resin containing no less than 2 alkenyl groups per molecule, and having a number average molecular weight of 500-100,000. (b) an organohydrogen-polysiloxane containing no less than 2 Si--H bonds per molecule, and (c) a platinum catalyst. It is desired that the organic resin of component (a) is at least one type chosen from acrylic, polyester and epoxy. The preferable amount of component (b) is such that there are 0.8-4 hydrogen atoms bonded to silicon atoms per alkenyl group of component (a).

A blend of (A) an acrylic, polyester or epoxy resin having at least two alkenyl or alkynyl groups in a molecule, (B) an organic silicon compound having at least two hydrogen atoms each directly attached to a silicon atom in a molecule, and (C) a hydrosilylaion catalyst is blended with (D) an organic iron or aluminum compound to form a hydrosilylative composition. Component (D) scavenges a catalyst poison, permitting components (A) and (B) to undergo hydrosilylation reaction with the aid of catalyst (C).

The present invention provides a method of forming a composite coating film which makes it possible to attain both appearance and workability in a high-humidity environment. The method of forming a composite coating film according to the present invention comprises applying a water-based base coat composition on a substrate, and then a clear coat thereon, wherein said water-based base coat composition comprises a pigment and a resin emulsion obtained by emulsion polymerization of an &agr;, &bgr;-ethylenically unsaturated monomer mixture, said &agr;,&bgr;-ethylenically unsaturated monomer mixture having an acid value of 3 to 50 mg KOH/g and containing at least 65% by weight of a (meth)acrylic ester whose ester moiety contains 1 or 2 carbon atoms.

A method for preventing settlement of aquatic fouling organisms on surface of an aquatic structure without environmental hazard is provided. The method is based upon absolutely novel concept to prevent the settlement by means of thick slime layer, i.e. bio-jelly, deposited on said surface. The present invention also provides a bio-jelly producing agent and a bio-jelly producing paint both useful for the present method. Further, the present invention provides a novel low toxic antifouling agent.
