    摘要: A paint composition for forming energy saving self-cleaning coatings includes water, a binder composition, a powder catalyst composition, a first pigment composition, a second pigment composition, and a fluoropolymer-composition. The binder composition includes a first acrylic resin having an average particle size from about 0.2 to 1 micron and a glass transition temperature less than about 10° C. The powder catalyst composition includes anatase titanium dioxide with a surface area from about 50 to 500 m2/g. It should be appreciated that anatase provides catalyst activity that is useful for providing the self-cleaning properties of the present embodiment. The first pigment composition includes rutile titanium dioxide which typically has low or no catalytic activity while the second pigment composition is different than the first pigment composition. Characteristically, the fluoropolymer-containing composition includes polyvinylidene fluoride and a second acrylic resin.

    摘要: The present application discloses a fouling control coating composition comprising a polysiloxane-based binder system, 0.01-20% by dry weight of one or more hydrophilic-modified polysiloxanes, and one or more biocides. The hydrophilic-modified polysiloxane may be a poly(oxyalkylene)-modified polysiloxane, e.g. a polysiloxane having grafted thereto poly(oxyalkylene) chains and/or having incorporated in the backbone thereof poly(oxyalkylene) chains. The poly(oxyalkylene) may e.g. be selected from polyoxyethylene, polyoxypropylene and poly(oxyethylene-co-oxypropylene) (polyethylene glycols/polypropylene glycols). The application further discloses a marine structure comprising on at least a part of the outer surface thereof an outermost coating prepared from the coating composition. Moreover, the application discloses the use of the combination of non-reactive hydrophilic-modified polysiloxanes and biocides, wherein the weight ratio between the hydrophilic-modified polysiloxanes and the biocides is in the range 1:0.2 to 1:6, for improving the antifouling properties of a polysiloxane based coating composition.

    摘要: A cold-curing photocatalytic coating material of the present invention contains an acrylic emulsion-type resin including acrylic resin particles with an average particle diameter of 80 nm to 200 nm, in which a glass transition temperature is 20° C. or less. Moreover, the photocatalytic coating material contains: copper compound-supported titanium oxide in which fineness of grind prescribed in JIS K5600-2-5 is 1 μm to 30 μm; and an aqueous medium that disperses the acrylic emulsion-type resin and the copper compound-supported titanium oxide. The copper compound-supported titanium oxide is contained by 1 to 80 parts by mass in 100 parts by mass of a non-volatile matter content of the photocatalytic coating material. In the photocatalytic coating material, a minimum film-forming temperature is 10° C. or less, and a content of an organic solvent is less than 10% by mass.

The antifouling layer contains at least one of a first compound having an ester linkage in a portion other than terminal ends and a second compound having a cyclic hydrocarbon group. The advancing contact angle of oleic acid on the surface of the antifouling layer is 15° or less, and the receding contact angle of oleic acid on the surface of the antifouling layer is 10° or less.

    摘要: A method and a system for contraband detection in an object using photoneutrons and x-rays includes an x-ray generator that generates an x-ray main beam including a first x-ray beam and a second x-ray beam, the first x-ray beam being directed to pass through the object. A photoneutron conversion target is arranged to receive the second x-ray beam so as to generate photoneutrons, the photoneutrons being directed to enter the object and react with the object to emit characteristic γ-rays. An x-ray detecting arrangement is arranged to receive the first x-ray beam that has passed through the object in order to perform x-ray imaging detection of the detected object. A γ-ray detecting arrangement is arranged to receive the characteristic γ-rays in order to perform neutron detection of the object based on the characteristic γ-rays. The x-ray imaging detection and the neutron detection are simultaneously performed.

    摘要: The present invention relates to compositions with self-cleaning properties. More particularly, the invention concerns coatings or paints comprising particles coated with a catalytically active composition. In particular, a self-cleaning coating composition (paint) is provided, comprising micro-sized particles coated with a functional layer, wherein the micro-sized particles are hollow or solid beads, or any combination/ratio of hollow and solid beads, wherein the beads comprise one or more material(s) selected from ceramic material(s); polymeric material(s); cermet material(s); metallic material(s); pigmented material(s); light-absorbing and/or light reflecting material(s); including any combination thereof, wherein said layer is covalently bound to said particles, wherein the photocatalytic layer comprises TiO2 in the crystal form of anatase; and wherein the coating composition (paint) comprises less than 0.1 anatase particles derived/released from the micro-sized beads, determined as weight/weight of released anatase/total amount of anatase. The invention provides paint essentially without presence of unbound anatase crystals which is highly undesired, as it is believed that their presence has a negative influence on essential components of the paint, such as binder, pigment and/or additives and furthermore, anatase may cause eye, skin, and respiratory tract irritation.

    摘要: Superoleophilic particles and surfaces and methods of making the same are described. The superoleophilic particles can include porous particles having a hydrophobic coating layer deposited thereon. The coated porous particles are characterized by particle sizes ranging from at least 100 nm to about 10 μm and a plurality of nanopores. Some of the nanopores provide flow through porosity. The superoleophilic particles also include oil pinned within the nanopores of the porous particles The plurality of porous particles can include (i) particles including a plurality of spaced apart nanostructured features comprising a contiguous, protrusive material, (ii) diatomaceous earth particles, or (iii) both. The surfaces can include the superoleophilic particles coupled to the surface.
