    Abstract: A low dropout regulator includes a first stage that generate a first output voltage and a second stage that generates a second output voltage different from the first output voltage. The first stage and the second stage are coupled in parallel to a node, the stages are selectively controlled respective first and second output signals based on different conditions. One condition may be operation of a load in one or more predetermined modes. Another condition may be transition between modes. Selective control of the first stage during a mode transition may reduce voltage undershoot or voltage overshoot in the load.

    Abstract: Embodiments of a resistor module of a USB interface device and a method for operating a resistor module of a USB interface device are described. In an embodiment, a resistor module of a USB interface device includes a pull-down resistor connectable to a USB power-sourcing device, a switch connected between the pull-down resistor and a fixed reference voltage, an energy storage unit connectable to the USB power-sourcing device and configured to store electrical energy in response to a current from the USB power-sourcing device, a switch control unit connected to the energy storage unit and configured to control the switch with a control signal in response to a voltage of the energy storage unit, and a glitch filter connected to the switch and to the switch control unit and configured to remove a glitch in the control signal.     Abstract: One or more characteristics of devices are ascertained in accordance with one or more aspects of the disclosure. As may be consistent with one or more embodiments, the attachment of an external circuit to an input port is detected based on a resistance value presented by the external circuit. A resistance range that includes the resistance value presented at the input port is determined, in response to detecting the attachment, by dynamically coupling one or more of a plurality of resistor-based circuits relative to the input port. A signal presented by the external circuit on the input port is coded based on the determined resistance range, using one or more of the resistor-based circuits, and the code is used to identify a type of the external circuit. These aspects can provide for the communication of power and data with a variety of different types of external circuits.

    Abstract: A power source switching circuit is disclosed. The power source switching circuit includes a voltage regulator, a first transistor and a second transistor. The first transistor is coupled with a first voltage source and the second transistor is coupled with a second voltage source. The voltage regulator includes a resistor, one or more diodes coupled together in series and a capacitor. Terminals of the capacitor are coupled between a gate and a source of the first transistor through a first switch and a second switch respectively. The capacitor is configured to hold charge to switch the first transistor on. A value of the capacitor is smaller than a gate to source capacitance of the first transistor.

    Abstract: A power source switching circuit is disclosed. The power source switching circuit includes a voltage regulator, a first transistor and a second transistor. The first transistor is coupled with a first voltage source and the second transistor is coupled with a second voltage source. The voltage regulator includes a resistor, one or more diodes coupled together in series and a capacitor.
