摘要： A liquid crystal display device capable of significantly suppressing an after image is provided. The liquid crystal display device contains substrates arranged as opposed to each other through a liquid crystal; a pixel electrode and a counter electrode for generating an electric field between the pixel electrode and the counter electrode, provided on a pixel region on a surface on a side of the liquid crystal of one of the substrates; and a charge transporting layer provided to cover the pixel electrode and the counter electrode, in which the pixel electrode and the counter electrode are formed in the same layer on one plane, and the liquid crystal has a resistivity of less than 1×1013 Ω·cm.

摘要： In a liquid crystal display panel, the shrinkage of an end-scaling material for sticking a pair of substrates together is prevented or relaxed to restrain peeling of the end-sealing material from the substrates, thereby preventing any leakage of a liquid crystal and penetration of contaminants. A liquid crystal display device is assembled by bonding together a pair of substrates, which are opposed to each other across a predetermined gap and at least one of which has an electrode group formed over a surface opposed to the other substrate, with a sealing material along their peripheries excluding a liquid crystal filling port, and then sealing the liquid crystal filling port with an end-sealing material after the filling of the liquid crystal and hermetically sealing the liquid crystal in the gap between both substrates. In the liquid crystal display device, a resin which constitutes the end-sealing material contains particulates of average particle size of 0.1 &mgr;m to 3.5 &mgr;m by at least 1 volume % to 30 volume %, preferably, 1 volume % to 10 volume %.

In such apparatus, a high contrast ratio can be achieved due to suppression of black luminance. Also, better display qualities can be achieved by reducing a blue changing phenomenon of black representation.

摘要： An image retention phenomenon and black unevenness generated after long-time operation in the liquid crystal device are prevented. By using a material having a polyamide acid ester as a precursor less likely to adsorb impurities on a boundary for an alignment film and a material having a dielectric constant anisotropy Δ∈ of 5 or less for liquid crystals, adsorption of an antioxidant dispersed in the liquid crystals is suppressed to prevent oxidation of the liquid crystals. The extent that impurities are intruded into the liquid crystals is reduced by restricting the dielectric constant anisotropy Δ∈ of the liquid crystals to 5 or less, thereby capable of preventing the image retention phenomenon and the black unevenness.

The liquid crystal display device includes a pixel electrode and counter electrode that are formed on a liquid crystal-side surface of one transparent substrate of respective transparent substrates disposed opposing each other with a liquid crystal being laid therebetween, wherein the transmissivity of light transmitting between this pixel electrode and the counter electrode is controlled by twisting of molecules of the liquid crystal as caused by an electric field generated between the pixel electrode and counter electrode. In the liquid crystal display device, spacer materials are provided between respective ones of said transparent substrates. These spacers are fixed and disposed on an insulating layer underlying an orientation film which is in contact with said liquid crystal on the one transparent substrate side.
