The invention provides a porous film having a plurality of connected pores, and a process for its production. The porous film of the invention is a porous film formed from highly heat resistant poly(metaphenylene isophthalamide), and having specific ranges for the open areas and difference between them on both surfaces, as well as specified ranges for the mean pore sizes and porosity on both surfaces. The permeability and impregnation with respect to substances such as air and water, as well as the dynamic strength, are therefore excellent, and the porous film can be used for filters, and for curing resin-impregnated prepregs, multilayer wiring boards, electronic package substrates and the like employing the porous film as a core material.

The present invention relates to a hydrogenated styrene polymer that has excellent transparency, can be used suitably for an optical application such as an optical disk substrate, has stability and transparency in a hot and humid environment, and has excellent heat resistance; and a process for producing same; etc. The hydrogenated styrene polymer of the present invention has a hydrogenated polymerized styrene unit content of at least 70 wt %, a content of fine particulate foreign matter having a particle size of 0.2 &mgr;m or more and less than 0.5 &mgr;m of at most 1×106 per g of the hydrogenated styrene polymer, and a phosphorus atom content of at most 0.01 parts by weight in 100 parts by weight of the hydrogenated styrene polymer. Furthermore, the process for producing a hydrogenated styrene polymer of the present invention includes steps of filtering, with a filter having a pore size of 0.3 &mgr;m or less, a hydrogenated styrene polymer having a hydrogenated polymerized styrene unit content of at least 70 wt %, at a temperature at which the solution viscosity thereof is at most 10 Pa·sec (100 poise) at a shear rate of 1 (1/s), and then removing a solvent from the filtrate thus obtained.

The resin composition comprises: (1) 10 to 90 wt % of a first hydrogenated, polymerized styrene which contains a hydrogenated, polymerized styrene unit in an amount of more than 95 wt % and 99.99 wt % or less and has a weight average molecular weight of 30,000 to 300,000; and (2) 10 to 90 wt % of a second hydrogenated, polymerized styrene which contains a hydrogenated, polymerized styrene unit in an amount of 60 to 95 wt % and has a weight average molecular weight of 30,000 to 200,000, “wt %” being based on 100 wt % of the total of the first hydrogenated, polymerized styrene and the second hydrogenated, polymerized styrene.

The above cyclic imino esters and quinoxalines have an absorption intensity E, defined by the following expression: ##EQU1## wherein A is an absorbance measured in 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane at a concentration c (g/100 ml) and an optical path d (cm),of more than 200 at an ultraviolet wavelength range of 340 to 400 nm. And when a coating layer containing at least one ultraviolet absorber is formed on the surface of a molded article made of the above fluorescence-emission preventive mixture, a synergistic suppression of the emission of fluorescence can be obtained.
