A fuel supply unit for forming a local hot region is disposed immediately above a porous perforated distributor disposed in the throat portion between the granulating furnace and the sintering furnace so that the granulating furnace is formed into a jet fluidized bed structure, the lower portion of the granulating furnace has an inverse frustum of circular cone (a cone portion) so formed as to cause the granulated material to form a downward moving bed, and raw material powder of cement is blown through the side wall of the cone portion, and it is sufficiently dispersed in the moving bed before it reaches the local hot region.

Such calcining system further includes a first damper mounted in a duct for discharging the exhaust gas from the raw material preheating device, a temperature sensor for sensing the temperature of calcined material discharged through an outlet of the planetary cooler, control device for controlling the degree of opening of the first damper when the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor rises to a high level, a second damper mounted in the air extracting duct, a gas sensor for sensing a gas component capable of indicating the condition of combustion in the rotary kiln, and control device for controlling the degree of opening of the second damper so as to bring the value of the gas component sensed by the gas sensor to a predetermined level. The flow rate of the cooling air can be controlled independently of the control of the flow rate of the air combustion, so that the temperature of the calcined material at the outlet of the planetary cooler can be kept at a predetermined level selected arbitrarily and the combustion in the rotary kiln and the calciner can be stabilized irrespective of changes in the conditions of operation.

An object of the invention is to provide an inexpensive and efficient ethanol production method using lignocellulosic biomass as a raw material.The method for producing ethanol from lignocellulosic biomass of the present invention includes a lignocellulose decomposition step of subjecting lignocellulosic biomass to a steam explosion treatment or hydrolysis in a subcritical state followed by a flash treatment; a lignin removal step of immersing a solid residue resulting from the decomposition step in ethanol to remove lignin; and a C6 saccharification/simultaneous fermentation step of saccharifying the solid residue resulting from the lignin removal step with an enzyme and further fermenting the resulting product into ethanol with a C6 fermentation microorganism. By combining the steam explosion treatment and the lignin removal process by ethanol immersion, higher rates are achieved for the saccharification and fermentation of the biomass.
