The base frame is movable relative to the ground engaging propulsion device about a first generally vertical axis. An excavating implement is mounted at an outer end of the dipper arm for movement about a fourth axis also transverse relative to the first vertical axis. A hydraulic ram is mounted between the dipper arm and the boom to effect movement of the dipper arm relative to the boom and hence to effect movement of the implement towards and away from the body.
