In a DVD playback mode only, the first type interface is disabled and a DVD driver unit having a hardware DVD decoder connected to a DVD reader unit arranged to read video data from a DVD inserted therein is powered on. In the described embodiment, the DVD decoder unit is also connected to the display screen by way of a second type interface is powered on. The video data is read from the DVD by the DVD reader unit and sent by the DVD reader unit to the hardware DVD decoder unit which then decodes the video data before passing it directly to a timing controller unit coupled to the display screen by way of the second type interface. The timing controller unit converts the video data at a native resolution to a display screen resolution that is then displayed on the display screen.

In a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel based display, a method of dynamically selecting either frame rate conversion (FRC) or pixel voltage overdrive is disclosed. The method is carried out by performing the following operations. A video vertical refresh rate of an incoming video data stream is determined and based upon the determining, only one video data stream conditioning protocol from a number of available video data stream conditioning protocols is selected. The selected video data stream condition protocol is then applied to the video data stream.

Methods and systems are described for improving a data at a receiver using one or more signal peak detectors. A signal is received having an initial signal level from the transmitter, the signal having a long bit and a short bit. The initial signal voltage of the signal is measured using a signal peak detector. A pre-emphasis value is determined using the signal voltage and is communicated to the transmitter, causing the transmitter to transmit the signal using an adjusted signal level. A second signal voltage of the initial signal is measured using a second signal peak detector, the second signal voltage being used to determine the pre-emphasis value. In another embodiment, a state machine having data relating to appropriate pre-emphasis is used in determining the pre-emphasis value. In another embodiment, one peak detector is used to measure the long bit and another peak detector is used to measure the short bit. In another embodiment, the signal does not have associated link training data.

Disclosed is a hydrogenated nitrile rubber composition comprising 100 parts by weight of hydrogenated nitrile rubber having a bound acrylonitrile content of 31 to 50% and an iodine value of 30 mg/100 mg or less, 30 to 300 parts by weight of carbon black having a particle size of 61 nm or more and/or other filler, 0.5 to 30 parts by weight of a polyfunctional unsaturated compound cocrosslinking agent, and 1 to 10 parts by weight of an organic peroxide. The hydrogenated nitrile rubber composition has excellent roll processability and can be suitably used as a vulcanization-molding material for a cup gasket or bellows having excellent LLC resistance used in a water pump mechanical seal.

A passive cable adaptor for connecting a data source device with a display device is described. The adaptor has a packet-based interface connector at one end, the connector having a positive main link pin, a negative main link pin, a positive auxiliary channel pin, and a negative auxiliary channel pin. Also at the same end is a serial interface connector, such as a serial interface connector. At the other end is an upgraded serial interface connector (e.g., enhanced serial interface) connector having high-speed transmission pins, high-speed receiving pins, and a ground pin, wherein multimedia content is transmitted over the cable adaptor and electrical power is supplied over the cable adaptor simultaneously.

A receiver is enabled to perform self-configuration of the main data link to receive and display video data. A video data signal is received through a data link having multiple channels or lanes at a specific bit rate. No link configuration data normally associated with the video signal is received. It is then determined which one or more of the channels of the data link are active in transmitting the data signal. A symbol pattern in the data signal is then identified. The symbol rate of the data signal is then synchronized with the local clock frequency. The local clock frequency is set to correspond to the actual bit rate of the data signal, thereby creating a signal-based clock frequency. This local clock frequency is set using only the data signal since no link configuration data associated with the signal is received. In this manner, the receiver configures or trains the link itself using only the video data signal and therefore, the receiver may be described as self-sufficient.
