    摘要： A wireless remote telemetry system which uses low-cost remote communication devices operating on existing wireless communication systems in order to provide real-time reading and control of remote devices. In an embodiment applicable to utility service, consumption of electrical power among a population of customers is measured by a utility metering system having a wireless communication capability. The metering system comprises a remote metering unit which communicates with a central controller over existing wireless communication systems, such as cellular base stations, using existing communication standards. The remote metering unit transmits various messages over a shared random access channel to a central controller. The central controller transmits messages to the remote metering unit over a paging channel. The remote metering unit may operate in a half-duplex mode only. Furthermore, the remote metering unit may provide a gateway to advanced consumer services at the remote location.

    摘要： A method of invoking and canceling voice and data service between a mobile unit and a base station. Using a standard telephone system, the connection for a voice service and a data service is the same. With the introduction of the digital wireless link, the voice connection and the data connection are different. Therefore new dialing commands which indicate the intent of the connection are created. These commands can also be used to designate the intent of the call from a mobile unit capable of data and voice service but not capable of simultaneous voice and data service. They can also be used to invoke simultaneous voice and data services.

A wireless power transfer system include a transmit circuit with a transmit antenna driven from a power amplifier to generate a near field radiation at a resonant frequency within a first coupling mode region surrounding the transmit antenna. One or more repeater antennas are disposed at different locations within the first coupling mode region. Each repeater antenna generates an enhanced near field radiation at the resonant frequency within a coupling mode region corresponding to that repeater antenna. One or more receive circuits including a receive antenna receive power when they are disposed in one of the coupling mode regions corresponding to that repeater antenna.

In an embodiment, an access point may replace information (e.g., data) transmission by a “known” transmission (or “reference transmission”) at a predetermined time known to access terminals in the corresponding sectors. The access terminals may use the received reference transmission to perform a position-location measurement, and report back the measured information. The access point may also send a reference transmission on demand, e.g., in response to a request from an access terminal in need for a location-based service.

In an aspect, a method includes receiving one or more packets associated with a selected destination, computing an average relative delay associated with each packet, determining a modified timestamp associated with each packet based on the average relative delay associated with each packet, and outputting the one or more packets and their associated modified timestamps. In an aspect, an apparatus is provided for generating modified timestamps. The apparatus includes a packet receiver configured to receive one or more packets associated with a selected destination and processing logic configured to compute an average relative delay associated with each packet, determine a modified timestamp associated with each packet based on the average relative delay associated with each packet, and output the one or more packets and their associated modified timestamps.
