摘要: One example relates to an optical engine comprising an optical waveguide. The optical waveguide can comprise a total internal reflection (TIR) edge to change direction of an optical light beam to an angle parallel to a top surface and a bottom surface of the optical waveguide. The optical waveguide can also comprise a plurality of aligning holes extending from the top surface to the bottom surface of the optical waveguide. The optical engine can comprise a substantially transparent slab underlying the optical waveguide. The slab can also comprise a micro lens to collimate the optical light beam. The slab can further comprise a plurality of aligning pins extending perpendicular from a top surface and bottom surface of the slab. Each of the plurality of aligning pins can extend through a respective one of the plurality of aligning holes.

Additionally, the first and second kinematic mounts, when mated, can align optical beams between the first array of active optical elements and the second array of active optical elements.

The second wafer is combined with the molded wafer to form the composite wafer. At least one of the first components is aligned with at least one of the second components to form a multi-component element. The multi-component element is singulatable from the composite wafer.

The transparent substrate comprises a mechanical feature designed to fit within an aperture of the bench substrate such that a lens formed onto the transparent substrate is aligned with an active region of the optoelectronic component.

摘要: A flexible optical interconnect and method of forming the interconnect is disclosed. The optical interconnect includes a waveguide base formed from a flexible dielectric material. A three-sided channel is formed in the flexible material. Each side of the channel is coated with a reflective metallic coating. A cover piece is formed from the flexible material and coated with a reflective metallic coating on an underside. The cover piece is coupled to the waveguide base to form a flexible optical bus having at least one hollow metallized waveguide. The hollow metallized waveguide is configured to carry an optical signal. A transverse slot is formed in the cover piece and the waveguide base to form an aperture bisecting the hollow metallized waveguide to enable the optical signal to be detected and/or redirected.

摘要: Various embodiments of the present invention are directed to computer buses that can be used to distribute data between components of various computer systems. In one aspect, a computer bus includes multiple opto-electronic engines disposed within a housing and multiple flexible connectors. Each flexible connector extends through an opening in the housing and is coupled at a first end to an opto-electronic engine and at a second to an electronic device. The flexible connectors enable the bus to be placed in different orientations and positions in order to optimize space and connectivity requirements or limitations.
