摘要： The invention provides a method for obtaining additional information about DNA mixtures arising from a variety of sources and/or a variety of concentrations. In particular, the invention provides a method for indicating the likelihood that a DNA mixture arose from sources of a defined type where: the DNA mixture is formed by DNA samples from more than one source, the method involving the determination of the identity of the alleles present at a locus for the DNA in the mixture; determining a first probability function for the situation where the DNA mixture is formed from samples arising from the given person and from a first other person; determining a second probability function for the situation where the DNA mixture is formed from samples arising from a second other person and a first other person; using the first probability function as numerator and the second probability function as denominator in determining a likelihood ratio for the mixture having arisen from the defined type of sources considered in the first probability function; determining such likelihood ratios for a plurality of loci; and combining the likelihood ratios to give a combined likelihood ratio for the mixture having arisen from the defined type of sources considered in the first probability function.

摘要： A method of evaluating primers for use in the amplification of DNA sequences, a method of producing a mixture of primers for such a purpose and a method of amplifying a plurality of DNA sequences using a mixture of primers is provided in which the evaluation involves performing one or more initial evaluations, obtaining a plurality of SNP sites and related potential primer identities which are passes, generating primers corresponding to those primer identities and conducting a test amplification process using those primers in conjunction with a further evaluation of the results, the pass primers therefrom forming a pool of primer candidates from which one or more primers for use in the amplification of DNA sequences are selected. The invention provides a faster, cheaper and more versatile technique for developing multiplexes, particularly for forensic science type investigations.

摘要： A belt keeper for securing a duty belt to a garment is disclosed. The belt keeper has a fastener tab on the inside surface so that the belt keeper can be detachably attached to the fastener strip on the inside of the duty belt. The fastener tab is flexibly attached to the belt keeper so that the belt keeper can readily allow its user to secure the duty belt to the garment belt, and keep the belt keeper in its position even after disengagement. In another embodiment, the belt keeper has a flexibly attached clamp on the inside of the belt keeper. The clamp can be detachably attached to the duty belt, so that the duty belt can be readily secured to the garment belt, while facilitating the belt keeper to maintain its position on the duty belt upon disengagement. In yet another embodiment, the clamp is a dual clamp, where one clamp is attached to the inside surface of the belt keeper and the other clamp can be detachably attached to the duty belt.
