Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for quick radio link control (RLC) retransmission on hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) failure during tune away. According to certain aspects, a method for wireless communications is provided. The method generally includes performing communications with a base station (BS) using radio components tuned to a first air interface, detecting a tune-away of the radio components from the first air interface to a second air interface while performing the communications, and scheduling one or more packets for retransmission to the BS upon completion of the tune-away, wherein the one or more packets are one or more packets that failed to be transmitted due to the tune-away.
Abstract:
Embodiments described herein relate to systems and methods for scheduling subscriptions in a user equipment (UE) having at least a first receive radio and a second receive radio, including receiving, by the first receive radio, a broadcast activity for a first subscription and receiving, by the second receive radio, a reception activity for a second subscription. A trigger event is detected while the broadcast activity for the first subscription is being received by the first receive radio and the reception activity for the second subscription is being received by the second receive radio. In response to detecting the trigger event, the reception activity for the second subscription is received by the first receive radio and the broadcast activity for the first subscription is received by the second receive radio.
Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods for a wireless communication device having a first Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) and a second SIM to manage communication via the first SIM and the second SIM are disclosed. The method can include, but is not limited to, sending a first message including an indication of an extended signaling capability, receiving a second message including an inquiry regarding the extended signaling capability, and sending a third message including extended capability information, responsive to receiving the second message.
Abstract:
Various examples include methods for assisting Global Positioning System (GPS) applications using a Long Term Evolution (LTE) subscription on a wireless communication device. Various example methods may include determining whether positioning information can be obtained from a first network associated with the LTE subscription, obtaining the positioning information from the first network through the LTE subscription in response to determining that the positioning information can be obtained from the first network, translating the positioning information into a format recognizable to a GPS application executing on the wireless communication device, and providing the positioning information to the GPS application.
Abstract:
Various embodiments include methods for reporting quality metrics of a wireless communication device to a network that includes scheduling, on the wireless communication device, a tune-away from a first carrier of a first subscription to a second subscription. Quality metrics of the first carrier before the tune-away begins are calculated and stored as frozen quality metrics. During the tune-away, the wireless communication device sends the stored frozen quality metrics to the network. The stored frozen quality metrics may continue to be sent to the network as long as the duration of the tune-away is shorter than a time threshold. If the duration of the tune-away exceeds the time threshold, the wireless communication device may calculate and send actual quality metrics of the carrier to the network.

Abstract:
A method, device and system provide improved throughput for network subscriptions in multi-SIM, multi-standby wireless devices by triggering false or fake NAK/Tx messages prior to the tune-away. The technique includes receiving and decoding communications from a node at a user equipment during a first subscription communication mode; in response to a communication from the node to the user equipment after a certain time period prior to a tune away period in which the user equipment communicates in a second subscription communication mode, communicating a fake NACK message from the user equipment to the node; and after the tune away period ends, receiving communications at the user equipment from the node and responding with an ACK message.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques and apparatus for optimizing long term evolution (LTE) connected discontinuous reception (CDRX) for single radio hybrid tune away devices. Certain aspects provide a method for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE). The method generally includes entering a DRX mode wherein the UE alternates between an activity period and an inactivity period while connected to a first radio access technology (RAT) network, tuning away from the first RAT network for a tune away period to monitor signals in a second RAT network, determining when an inactivity timer for the DRX mode expires or will expire, and adjusting a value of the inactivity timer based, at least in part, on the determination.

Embodiments described herein relate to apparatuses and methods for a wireless communication device having a first Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) associated with a first subscription and a second SIM associated with a second subscription to manage communications over the first subscription and the second subscription, including, but not limited to, determining valid paging occasions associated with the first subscription, determining a selected paging occasion of the valid paging occasions based on at least one of activities of the second subscription or a sleep period of the first subscription, and receiving a page of the first subscription on the selected paging occasion.
