摘要: A method of filtering a liquid sample that includes passing a sample comprising at least one biological organism through a filter membrane at a water volume flux of at least 100 L/m2.h.psi, where the filter membrane comprises a Bubble Point pore size of no more than 1.0 μm and where at least one biological organism is retained on the surface of the membrane. The method further includes detecting the at least one biological organism retained on the surface of the filter membrane.

摘要: A device (10) for separating liquid samples has a sample container (12), bottom wall (20) of which has an outlet opening (22) provided therein. The outlet opening (22) is joined by an outlet spout (24) extending in the axial direction of the sample container (12). On bottom wall (20) there is a separation layer (28). Below sample container (12), a collecting container (32) is arranged abutting sample container (12) such that an exchange of air between the interior of the collecting chamber (32) and the environment is possible, yet an escape of liquid is largely inhibited. The contact surface between collecting chamber (32) and sample container (12) and end (26) of the outlet spout (24) through which the liquid is discharged, are axially spaced apart.

摘要: A multi-well filtration apparatus is provided that has a housing, a multi-well filtration plate, and a pivotable member. The pivotable member secures the multi-well filtration plate to the housing and is associated with a resilient member. When the multi-well filtration plate is pressed against the pivotable member, it pivots, and the resilient member compresses to allow the pivotable member to instantaneously engage the multi-well filtration plate to secure it to the housing. The pivotable member can quickly release the multi-well filtration plate by simply exerting a force on a surface of the pivotable member.

Also disclosed is a method for fixing a haptic having an anchoring filament to a lens element in a soft intraocular lens comprising the steps of (a) forming in the lens element a passage having a width that is less than the greatest width of the anchoring filament, (b) lubricating the anchoring filament of the haptic, the passage in the lens element, or both, (c) inserting the anchoring filament end-first into the passage, and (d) washing the intraocular lens to remove the lubricant.

A projection provided at an upper housing forces the wire at least partly into and through the transition slit (51) and into a recess (37) in the lower housing part (1) upon telescoping of the upper housing part into the lower housing part, thereby clamping the wire to strain relieve it.
