Abstract: A method for charging or discharging an exchangeable energy store by means of an electrical device includes connecting a first electromechanical interface of the energy store to a further electromechanical interface of the electric device, applying a first measurement signal to a first signal contact or data contact of the further electromechanical interface without a charging or discharging current flowing, detecting a first voltage drop between the first signal contact or data contact and a first power contact of the further electromechanical interface operatively connected to the first signal contact or data contact, applying a charging or discharging current to the power contact of the further electromechanical interface, detecting again a first voltage drop between the first signal contact or data contact and the first power contact of the further electromechanical interface of the electrical device, and calculating a voltage difference between the two detected first voltage drops.

Abstract: An energy storage unit for an electrical consumer includes at least one energy storage cell, a first printed circuit board for electrically contacting the at least one energy storage cell having a first and a second power supply contact of the energy storage unit. The first printed circuit board is arranged adjacent to the at least one energy storage cell and comprises at least one temperature sensor for sensing a temperature of the at least one energy storage cell. At least one further printed circuit board is electromechanically connected to the first printed circuit board and the at least one temperature sensor is arranged on the at least one further printed circuit board. The energy storage unit can be used with an electrical consumer such as a hand-held power tool with the energy storage unit designed as a removeable battery pack.

Abstract: A method for charging a battery comprises: measuring a battery voltage with a voltage sensor and a battery current with a current sensor; applying, with a charging circuit, a first charging current to the battery until the measured battery voltage exceeds a predetermined voltage threshold, a magnitude of the first charging current being held at a first constant value; applying, with the charging circuit, in response to the measured battery voltage exceeding the predetermined voltage threshold, a second charging current to the battery until a cutoff criterion is satisfied, a magnitude of the second charging current being such that the battery voltage exceeds a steady state voltage limit for the battery; after the cutoff criterion is satisfied, determining a rest voltage of the battery; and updating the cutoff criterion based on a difference between the determined rest voltage and a target rest voltage.
