摘要: An optical switch system used in a monitoring system for monitoring a large-scale optical transmission including a multiplicity of optical fibers, or like systems for switching optical transmission paths. The optical switch system comprises first and second optical switches. The first optical switch serves to optically connect one end face of a single first optical fiber selectively to one end face of any one of n second optical fibers. The second optical switch serves to optically connect end faces of n third optical fibers collectively and substantially synchronously to end faces of fourth optical fibers of a desired bundle selected from a plurality of optical fiber bundles each composed of substantially n optical fibers, the third optical fibers being optically connected at other end faces to other end faces of the second optical fibers.

The apparatus includes an X--Y stage for fixing the first optical component and aligning the optical axis of the first optical component in an X-axis and Y-axis direction. A fixing disk has a plurality of apertures extending radially and intersecting one another at a center of the fixing disk with respect to the radial direction, and includes a clamp for fixing the second optical component in the center of the fixing disk with respect to the axial and radial directions thereof such that the contact surface of the second optical component faces the contact surface of the first optical component. A holding member has a plurality of apertures each formed in a position respectively corresponding to a position of one of the plurality of apertures of the fixing disk, and the holding member releasably holds the fixing disk and is adapted to carry the fixing disk for axial movement thereof in a Z-axis direction. A Z stage for moving the holding member in the Z-axis direction is provided for fitting the respective contact surfaces of the first and second optical components to each other, and laser emitting heads emit a laser beam through corresponding apertures of the fixing disk and holding member to weld the first and second optical components together at the respective fitted contact surfaces thereof, with the optical axes of the first and second optical components in alignment with each other.

摘要: A method for switching an optical connector having paired optical connectors, having pins engaged with engaging holes of the optical connectors, which involves a connector disposing step of disposing the switching optical connector parallel to the separating optical connector, a pin forward moving step of moving the pins engaged with both the reconnecting and separating optical connectors each other to the reconnecting optical connector side, then a connecting switching step of relatively moving the reconnecting optical connector, the separating optical connector and the switching optical connector and the front end faces thereof, and finally pin backward moving step of moving the pins of the reconnecting optical connector side to the switching optical connector side. Thus, the method and an apparatus for switching an optical connector can momentarily switch to connect optical transmission units with optical connectors without depending upon a worker's skill as well as to mechanize or automate the replacing work.

摘要: An ultrasonic welding method for conductors is provided that is capable of suppressing occurrence of insufficient weld strength and a separation which may occur when terminals of a wires are ultrasonically welded. In a wire arranging step, wires are arranged in accordance with a predetermined arrangement. In a conductor moving step, conductors (2) are pressed in a predetermined direction by a grinding jaw (12), and thereby relative positions among the conductors (2) are changed. In a first ultrasonic welding step, ultrasonic welding is performed on the conductors (2) in a state of being pressed by the grinding jaw (12). In a second ultrasonic welding step, the pressing applied by the grinding jaw (12) is released, and ultrasonic welding is performed on the conductors (2).
