摘要: The invention provides a novel planographic printing plate suitable for dry planographic printing without supply of dampening water and a method for the preparation thereof. The inventive printing plate has, on one surface of a base plate, a layer of an organopolysiloxane composed of the areas where fresh surface of the organopolysiloxane is exposed bare as the ink-repellent non-image areas and the areas where the surface of the organopolysiloxane layer has been subjected to the treatment with low temperature plasma to be oleophilic or ink-receptive as the image areas of the printing plate. According to the inventive method, the pattern-wise exposure of the organopolysiloxane layer to the plasma atmosphere is performed by first providing a pattern-wise layer of a plasma resistant protective resist layer on the organopolysiloxane layer followed by the plasma treatment and removal of the resist layer. In an improved embodiment of the invention, a layer of an abrasion-resistant ink-receptive material is provided on the organopolysiloxane layer in the plasma-treated areas so that the durability of the printing plate is remarkably improved. Further, incorporation of a metachromatic substance susceptible to plasma treatment, e.g. a dye subject to color change by the plasma treatment, in the organopolysiloxane or in an undercoating primer layer facilitates determination of the end point of the plasma treatment.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method of forming an intermediate film and a hard carbon film over the inner surface of a cylindrical member having a bore, such as a bushing or a cylinder, with the hard carbon film being formed on the intermediate film with a uniform thickness, greatly enhancing of abrasion resistance of the inner surface. The cylindrical member is placed in a vacuum vessel, an auxiliary electrode of an intermediate film forming material, such as a titanium-silicon alloy or the like, is inserted in the bore of the cylindrical member, a sputtering gas is supplied into the vacuum vessel, a voltage is applied to the auxiliary electrode to produce a plasma around the auxiliary electrode in order that the intermediate film forming material is sputtered from the auxiliary electrode and an intermediate film is formed over the inner surface of the cylindrical member. Subsequently, a gas containing carbon, such as methane gas or the like, is supplied into the vacuum vessel, and a voltage is applied to the cylindrical member to produce a plasma in the vacuum vessel in order that a hard carbon film (DLC film) is formed on the previously formed intermediate film over the inner surface of the cylindrical member.

摘要: There is provided a method and an apparatus for improving surface roughness of tooth surfaces of an external-tooth gear (W), and thereby reducing the occurrence of noises associated with the meshing between teeth. In accordance with the method, teeth of the external-tooth gear (W) are polished by rotating teeth of the external-tooth gear (W) relative to a film polishing member (110) in the tooth profile direction, and simultaneously by oscillating the external-tooth gear (W) in the tooth trace direction, while pressing the film polishing member (110) against tooth surfaces of the external-tooth gear W by backing up with a shoe (120).

摘要: A method of forming films over an insulating material is provided whereby an underlayer film having electric conductivity is formed on the surface of the insulating material constituting a base member, and a hard carbon film is formed over the underlayer film so that the surface electrical resistance value of the hard carbon film can be controlled so as not to cause the surface thereof to be charged with static electricity by varying an electrical resistance value of the underlayer film. In the case where the underlayer film is formed of a metal film composed of titanium, chromium, tungsten, or the like, the resistance value thereof can be changed by varying the thickness of the metal film. In the case where the underlayer film is formed of a semiconductor film composed of silicon, germanium, or the like, the resistance value thereof can be changed by varying the thickness of the semiconductor film, or the concentration of an impurity added thereto.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device (1) comprises a liquid crystal display panel (3) and a reflector (5) disposed on the side of the liquid crystal display panel, opposite from the visible side thereof. The liquid crystal display panel (3) comprises liquid crystal (3f) sandwiched between two transparent substrates (3a, 3b), and display electrodes (3c, 3d) made up of a transparent and electrically conductive film provided on the inner faces of the respective substrates (3a 3b). The reflector (5) is provided with protrusions (5a) formed at positions corresponding to the display electrodes (3c, 3d) on a face thereof opposite to the liquid crystal display panel (3). Accordingly, light transmitted through the liquid crystal display panel (3) falls on the protrusions (5a) of the reflector (5), and respective components of light reflected from the surface of the respective protrusion (5a) will reach the eyes of a viewer with differences in arrival time due to the surface condition of the respective protrusions (5a), so that information displayed by characters and so forth is three-dimensionally perceived by the viewer.

摘要: A timepiece according to the invention is provided with a liquid crystal display panel capable of displaying at least either of time information or calendar information, and the liquid crystal display panel comprises a liquid crystal cell with liquid crystals sealed thereinbetween, sandwiched between two transparent substrates having an electrode on each of inner surfaces thereof facing each other, polarizing sheets disposed on the external surface of the respective substrates, and a light absorption film disposed on the side of one of the polarizing sheets opposite from the liquid crystal cell. For each of the polarizing sheets, a sheet reflecting the light linearly polarized in the direction orthogonal to the transmission axis thereof is used so that either of a background or a display segment is displayed in a metallic color while the other is displayed in the color of the light absorption film. Thus, the invention provides a timepiece (watch or clock) capable of indicating display that is attractively variable in design.

摘要: The invention provides a guide bush wherein a cemented carbide alloy containing at least cobalt is provided on an inner surface thereof for holding a workpiece rotatably and slidably in the longitudinal axial direction thereof in close proximity of a cutting tool, and a DLC film is formed over the cemented carbide alloy, cobalt being removed from the surface of the cemented carbide alloy, adjoining the DLC film. By forming the DLC film 15 on the surface of the cemented carbide alloy 12 from which cobalt has been removed, with an intermediate layer formed therebetween, adhesiveness of the DLC film against the cemented carbide alloy fixedly attached to the inner surface of the guide bush is further enhanced.
