摘要： Provided are an image brightness controlling apparatus and method, and an adaptive brightness controlling apparatus and method based on the brightness degree and/or brightness range of an image. The image brightness controlling apparatus includes a brightness increment arithmetic unit for outputting a brightness increment for a pixel, and an individual component brightness increment arithmetic unit for outputting the brightness increments of individual components constituting the pixel in response to the brightness increment for a pixel. The individual component brightness increment arithmetic unit multiplies the brightness increment of the pixel by each of the unit vectors of the components constituting the pixel to obtain the brightness increments of the individual components. The image brightness controlling apparatus further includes an adder for adding the components constituting the pixel to the brightness increments of the components. The image brightness controlling apparatus and the adaptive image brightness controlling apparatus can maintain the sense of color of an image (e.g., the hue or chroma of an image) while increasing the brightness degree and brightness range of an image.

摘要： The resolution-converting method comprises steps of applying an edge-directed interpolation to an input image and producing an intermediate image; converting a sampling rate with respect to the intermediate image and producing an output image having a predetermined resolution; and improving sharpness of the produced output image. The present invention prevents image-quality degradation factors that can occur in the conventional resolution-converting method as well as obtains an output image having a resolution of a desired size.

摘要： A method and apparatus for rendering an image signal by adding another one color different from an inputted color, to an image signal composed of a predetermined number (for example, RGB) of components, is provided. The method for rendering image signals which represent a predetermined number of colors in an apparatus for rendering an image signal of which pixels have three sub-pixels, comprises (a) receiving a predetermined number of color signals and converting the predetermined number of color signals into four-color signals to be represented in the sub-pixels, (b) selecting two-color signals to be outputted alternatively in every other pixels out of the four-color signals and selecting only one-color signal for each position of a pixel area from the two-color signal, (c) recalculating a level value of the selected one-color signal to be represented in the sub-pixels, and (d) controlling image signals to be represented in the sub-pixels according to the level value of the one-color signal calculated in (c).

摘要： A method and apparatus for measuring a color-texture distance and a method and apparatus for sectioning an image into a plurality of regions using the measured color-texture distance are provided. The method of measuring a color-texture distance includes the steps of: assigning different degrees of importance to a brightness difference, a saturation difference, and a hue difference between two points in a color feature space constituted of color feature values of pixels in an image, and adding the brightness difference, the saturation difference, and the hue difference in proportion to the assigned degrees of importance to calculate a color distance between the two points; obtaining a texture distance between the two points using a difference between texture feature values of the two points and weighting coefficients applied to multi scales of a texture, in a texture feature space constituted of texture feature values for the pixels; and multiplying a color weight value and a texture weight value by the color distance and the texture distance, respectively, adding the multiplication results to each other, and obtaining the color-texture distance between the two points. The degrees of importance are determined on the basis that a hue is more important than a brightness or a saturation, a color becomes black as the brightness approaches an absolute value, and the hue has an arbitrary value as the saturation approaches the absolute value.

摘要： An apparatus and method are provided for correcting a color reproduced by a video device according to peripheral brightness so that the visibility of the video device is guaranteed under peripheral conditions brighter than the video device. The apparatus for correcting a color reproduced by a video device according to peripheral brightness includes: a lookup-table-creation unit which creates a lookup table based on saturation of the video device and brightness of peripheral conditions; a color-correction unit which corrects the color reproduced by the video device according to the created lookup table; and a color-error-compensation unit which compensates for color error resulting from correction of the color. 摘要： A method and apparatus for rendering a color image on a delta-structured display are provided. The method for rendering a color image on a display apparatus in which a pixel expressing an input image is formed with delta-structured sub-pixels, the method comprising: (a) forming a scaling filter which is used to make the resolution of the input image correspond to the resolution of the display apparatus; (b) obtaining a representative value of a sub-pixel of the display apparatus corresponding to a consideration area which is an area processed by the scaling filter in the input image; (c) obtaining the value of the sub-pixel based on the difference of pixels in the consideration area in the input image; (d) performing gamma correction of the sub-pixel value so that the sub-pixel is appropriate to the display apparatus; and (e) rendering the gamma-adjusted sub-pixel value on the display apparatus. By using the sub-pixel rendering method of a display apparatus, resolution is improved and the color fringe that can occur due to sub-pixel rendering is reduced.
