    摘要: A data reproduction apparatus and a data reproduction method can alleviate the workload of a special processing operation of fast forward or reverse data reproduction and improve the data access speed for fast reproduction of data. The data reproduction apparatus comprises an optical pickup 2 for reproducing data from an optical disk 1, a sector detector 4 for detecting a first piece of data information indicating if a data is to be output as signal or not, a ring buffer memory 6 for storing data, an error correction circuit 7 for correcting errors in the data to be output as signal as indicated by the first piece of data information out of the stored data, a stream detector 10 for detecting a second piece of data information indicating the data to be out as signal out of the data corrected for errors, decoders 13, 16 for decoding the data corrected for errors and stored in the ring buffer memory 6 as signal to be reproduced and a system controller 22 for control the data to be decoded and the data not to be decoded by referring to the first piece of data information and the second piece of data information detected by a second data information detection means.

    摘要: A DVD reproduction apparatus includes a video decoder capable of outputting smooth video data during forward or backward high-speed reproduction. The video decoder is intermittently supplied with data in VOBU (Video Object Unit) units. According to control by a controller, the decoder outputs the decoded I pictures or P pictures from a memory having a capacity of three or more pictures. In a case of forward reproduction, the pictures are outputted according to the time axis, and in a case of backward reproduction, the pictures are outputted in the opposite direction of the decoding order. Moreover, the decoder counts a VOBU passing time through a demultiplexer provided at a preceding stage and outputs respective pictures at averaged intervals. That is, because three pictures are outputted for each VOBU, pictures are outputted at an interval of the averaged VOBU passing time multiplied by ⅓.

The central processing unit receives commands to establish a current playback state for management of playback of digital video and audio by said digital video decoder and output system, and responds to a video field synchronization signal and a current playback state, without external instruction, to determine whether to display digital video, whether to decode digital video for display, whether to repeat display of previously decoded digital video, and whether to skip over digital video prior to decoding digital video for output. By delivering commands to the central processing unit, the application specific integrated circuit can be caused to transition between playback states to provide desired playback of said digital video and audio.
