摘要:
The present invention relates to an artificial ceramic dental root, wherein the outer circumference portion of the main body of the artificial dental root which has been implanted in the jaw bone is integrally formed of ceramic material; the diameter of a dental neck-corresponding portion of the artificial dental root extending from a part inserted into the top of the jaw bone to at least a part of the dental neck is made larger than that of a base; and a tapered portion is provided between said base and the dental neck-corresponding portion, whereby stress concentration is relieved and the artificial dental root is obtained which is highly resistant to outer forces, especially a force in an oblique direction. Even when a ceramic coated layer is layered over a metallic core to form a layer structure, the ceramic layer is prevented from coming off.

The materials for living hard tissue replacements of the present invention comprise a ceramic material which contain Cao and SiO.sub.2 as essential components, and MgO as an optional components, are substantially free from calcium phosphate and are capable of forming a compound based on calcium phosphate by contact with an aqueous solution containing phosphorus, and show high biological affinity.
摘要:
A biomedical material for use as artificial bone and dental root is provided which takes the form of a sintered composite body comprising a crystalline calcium phosphate matrix and inorganic whiskers dispersed therein. The inorganic whiskers contain at least one oxide selected from the group consisting of silicon oxide, aluminum oxide, calcium oxide and magnesium oxide. The matrix of tricalcium phosphate or apatite preferably has a grain size of 0.05 to 30 .mu.m. The whiskers, typically anorthite and diopside whiskers occupy 0.5 to 95% by area of a cross section of the sintered body, and preferably have a length of 0.05 to 30 .mu.m and an aspect ratio of from 1.2 to 100, with the ratio of matrix grain size to whisker length being 10/1 to 1/10. The material has physical toughness and stength and biomedical affinity. The material is prepared by mixing calcium phosphate and a whisker-forming material or whiskers and sintering the mixture at a temperature of 800.degree. to 1600.degree. C.

A living hard tissue replacement is prepared by superplastic forming a ceramic material which contains CaO, SiO.sub.2, and MgO, is substantially free of calcium phosphate, but capable of forming a calcium phosphate base compound upon contact with phosphorus-containing water. A replacement is also prepared by superplastic forming a sintered composite body comprising a calcium phosphate base ceramic matrix and an inorganic filler dispersed therein. Both the replacements are suitable as artificial dental roots and crowns.

A ceramic material for use as artificial bone and dental root is provided which takes the form of a composite sintered body comprising crystalline calcium phosphate grains as a matrix and inorganic whiskers dispersed therein. An intermediate layer containing elements in either one or both of the whiskers and the grains intervenes between the whiskers and the grains. The material has physical toughness and strength as well as biomedical affinity. The material is prepared by mixing calcium phosphate and a whisker-forming material or whiskers and sintering the mixture at a temperature of 800.degree. to 1600.degree. C., followed by slow cooling to allow formation of the intermediate layer.

A composite biotic implant of the invention is prepared by coating a metal substrate with ceramic particles preferably having bio-compatibility, and plastic working the coated substrate to cause plastic deformation of the metal substrate, thereby embedding the ceramic particles in a surface layer of the metal substrate. Optionally, ceramic material having bio-compatibility is coated over the surface of the ceramic particle embedded substrate. A composite implant exhibiting a firm bond is thus obtained.

A living hard tissue replacement is prepared by subjecting a calcium phosphate base ceramic material to superplastic forming. Also provided is a method for preparing a composite body comprising the step of joining a cover of a calcium phosphate base ceramic material to a substrate of a heterogeneous material by superplastic forming. Superplastic forming is often performed by hot isostatic pressing. The living hard tissue replacement and composite body are useful as artificial dental roots, dental crowns, and bones.
