摘要: A flexible dampening intervertebral spacer (100) to replace a spinal disc comprising upper and lower plates (101,103), an articulation element (102) and optional intermediate members (804,805). The articulation element has a plurality of interposed, concentric ring shaped segments (202) separated by one or more spaces (201) and one or more bridging elements (203) connecting the interposed segments. A first portion of the articulation element, preferably an innermost segment, is preferably fixedly connected to the upper plate while a second portion of the articulation element, preferably the outermost segment, is preferably connected to the lower plate to permit relative movement of the endplates by elastic deflection or flexing of the articulation element without opposed surfaces rubbing against each other.

摘要: A flexible dampening intervertebral spacer (100) to replace a spinal disc comprising upper and lower plates (101,103), an articulation element (102) and optional intermediate members (804,805). The articulation element has a plurality of interposed, concentric ring shaped segments (202) separated by one or more spaces (201) and one or more bridging elements (203) connecting the interposed segments. A first portion of the articulation element, preferably an inner-most segment, is preferably fixedly connected to the upper plate while a second portion of the articulation element, preferably the outermost segment, is preferably connected to the lower plate to permit relative movement of the endplates by elastic deflection or flexing of the articulation element without opposed surfaces rubbing against each other.

摘要: The present invention relates to dynamic bone fixation elements and a surgical method to stabilize bone or bone fragments. The dynamic bone fixation elements preferably include a bone engaging component and a load carrier engaging component. The bone engaging component preferably includes a plurality of threads for engaging a patient's bone and a lumen. The load carrier engaging component preferably includes a head portion for engaging a load carrier (e.g., bone plate) and a shaft portion. The shaft portion preferably at least partially extends into the lumen. Preferably at least a portion of an outer surface of the shaft portion is spaced away from at least a portion of an inner surface of the lumen via a gap so that the head portion can move with respect to the bone engaging component. The distal end of the shaft portion is preferably coupled to the lumen.

摘要: A bone fixation element comprises a shaft extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end and a head connected to the proximal end of the shaft. The head includes a radially outer abutting structure deformable to lockingly engage an inner wall of an opening through a bone plate. Deformation of the abutting structure permits the head to lock the bone fixation element within the opening at any user-selected angle with respect to a central axis of the opening within a permitted range of angulation.

摘要: A device for stabilizing portions of bone, comprises a plate to be coupled to a target portion of bone including a first hole extending therethrough from a proximal surface to a distal, bone-facing, surface thereof and a first rigid member received within the first hole, the rigid member sized relative to the first hole to be rotatable therewithin about an axis substantially perpendicular to a proximal-distal axis of the first hole, the first rigid member including a first bore extending therethrough from a proximal opening to a distal opening, the first bore being sized and shaped to receive a first bone fixation element to be inserted through the plate into the target portion of bone in combination with a first deformable member coupling the first rigid member to the plate.

摘要: A bone plate comprises a locking hole extending through the bone plate from a top surface to a bottom surface thereof. The locking hole is threaded and sized and shaped to lockingly receive a correspondingly threaded head of a bone fixation element therethrough. The bone plate further comprises a first plate relief extending at least partially through a thickness of the plate and separated from the locking hole to define a first weakened portion of the bone plate. The first plate relief extends around a portion of a circumference of the locking hole.
