摘要: A system and method are disclosed for reliable communications in a packet network. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a network management system (NMS) having a controller programmed to establish between first and second customer edge (CE) routers in a full mesh packet network first and second logical data tunnels conforming to an isolation protocol, synchronize packet data in the first and second logical data tunnels, enable packet data exchanges between the first and second CE routers over the first logical data tunnel, direct the first and second CE routers to duplicate the packet data exchanged between them over the second logical data tunnel, and direct the first and second CE routers to synchronously switch to the second logical data tunnel upon detecting a fault in the first logical data tunnel.

摘要: Example methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to respond to signaling protocol failures in traffic engineering (TE) tunnels are disclosed. A disclosed example apparatus includes a database to store a tunnel state for a first TE tunnel, a signaling engine to detect whether a signaling protocol failure associated with the first TE tunnel occurred, and to set the tunnel state to a first logic state when the signaling protocol failure is detected, and a label switching engine to route the data through a multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) based network via a second TE tunnel when the tunnel state is the first logic state, and to route the data through the MPLS-based network via the first TE tunnel when the tunnel state is a second logic state.

摘要: A system monitors signaling data transmitted between routers. The system includes at least one router that communicates signaling data via a session with at least one other router. The system also includes a network element that receives a copy of the signaling data via a control session established with the at least one router. The sessions, including the control session, can be border gateway protocol (BGP) sessions. The network element can also operate as a BGP control server or a centralized policy manager.

摘要: A mesh type wireless communication network includes a plurality of nodes, each node having at least one dynamically directionally controllable communications link, and a network controller for dynamically changing the direction of the controllable communications links of the nodes to enable transmission of signals between the nodes. A hub type wireless communication network includes a hub node having at least one dynamically directionally controllable communications link, a plurality of remote nodes, and a network controller for dynamically controlling the direction of the communications link to enable transmission of signals between the hub node and the remote nodes. A method for transmitting communications signals in a mesh network includes the steps of providing a plurality of nodes for receiving communications signals, each having at least one dynamically directionally controllable communications link, and dynamically changing the direction of the controllable communications links of the nodes to enable transmission of the communications signals between the nodes. A method for transmitting communications signals in a hub network includes the steps of providing a hub of node for receiving communications signals, the hub node having at least one dynamically directionally controllable communications link, providing a plurality of remote nodes for exchanging the communications signals with the hub node, and dynamically changing the direction of the controllable communications links of the hub node to enable transmission of the communications signals between the hub node and the remote nodes.
