The present invention relates to multi-layered polyolefin films that provide excellent adhesion to cold seal cohesive formulations. In a preferred embodiment, a film of the present invention is characterized as having a polyolefin resin layer with a discharge-treated surface on one side. It has been found that when the discharge-treated surface has at least 0.3% nitrogen functional groups, it provides an excellent cold seal receptive surface. A biaxially oriented polypropylene film of the present invention may also have a second skin layer, opposite the first layer, which may be used for metallizing, laminating, or printing.

A laminate film having a surface treated polyolefin-containing resin layer having a flame or corona treated surface and a plastomer-containing a heat sealable resin layer that is not directly on the flame or corona treated surface, the heat sealable resin layer having a storage shear modulus of 400,000 Pa or less at 100 rad/s at 121° C., 100,000 Pa or less at 10 rad/s at 121° C., and 5000 Pa or less at 1 rad/s at 121° C., is disclosed. The machine direction tensile properties of the laminate film include: Young's modulus of 350,000 psi (2,413,165 kPa) or more, an elongation of 120% or less, and a tensile strength of 27,000 psi (186,158 kPa) or more.
