    摘要: A vehicle navigation system is presented for performing guidance along route which produces an intersection image upon controlling a drawing area of the intersection image on the basis of information and route regarding the intersection existing on the route which requires guidance. The navigation system display control unit determines the drawing area of the intersection image on the basis of map information stored in a memory, route information stored in a route memory and information concerning an intersection requiring route information and guidance prior to producing the intersection image. In addition, the display control unit judges whether the intersection which requires route guidance is larger than the predetermined limited scale rate, and if the intersection which requires guidance is larger than the predetermined image limit, the display control unit controls a display area by reducing the scale rate so as to be able to display the entire intersection or otherwise controls the display area so as to be able to display all routes within its intersection.

    摘要: The present invention provides a navigation system for guiding a driver along an optimum route by comparing a route with preference on the traveling direction of a vehicle with a route with no preference on the traveling direction thereof when the driver is guided from the current position thereof up to a destination. To search for a route, a first route with preference on the traveling direction of a vehicle is calculated (1) and then, a second route with no preference on the traveling direction thereof is calculated (2). An appropriate route is selected from found routes according to a predetermined setting condition (3) and displayed on screen. The setting condition includes comparison of distances of respective routes and time lengths required for traveling thereon, ease of traveling, width and type of roads, scenery and the like. In a case where distances of the respective routes, for example, are compared with each other, if the distance of the first route is longer than the second route by at least a predetermined value, the second route is displayed, and if the first route is not longer than the second route by at least the predetermined value, the first route is displayed.

Upon receipt of the new destination, the apparatuses, methods, and programs designate an ordinal position of the new destination in terms of the designated order and receive an input of a destination change request. When the destination change request is received, the apparatuses, methods, and programs automatically delete one or more of the destinations in ordinal positions within the designated order that are before the ordinal position of the new destination, conduct a new search for a new driving route based on the new destination, and output the new driving route. When an added destination request is received, the apparatuses, methods, and programs conduct a search for the new driving route including the new destination, without deleting destinations in ordinal positions within the designated order that are before the ordinal position of the new destination.
