摘要: An apparatus and method for non-invasive determination of attributes of human tissue by quantitative infrared spectroscopy. The system includes subsystems optimized to contend with the complexities of the tissue spectrum, high signal-to-noise ratio and photometric accuracy requirements, tissue sampling errors, calibration maintenance problems, and calibration transfer problems. The subsystems include an illumination subsystem, a tissue sampling subsystem, a spectrometer subsystem, a data acquisition subsystem, and a processing subsystem. The invention is applicable, as examples, to determining the concentration or change of concentration of alcohol in human tissue.

摘要: The present invention provides an optical transmission device, comprising a chamber having a light input into the chamber, and having a first port allowing light to pass out of the chamber, and comprising internal surfaces where at least a portion of the surfaces is diffusely reflecting, and where at least a portion of the one or more surfaces is specularly reflecting, and where the light input and the first port and the one or more surfaces are configured such that substantially all light entering the chamber via the light source within a first predetermined aperture must encounter the diffusely reflecting portion before exiting the chamber via the first port within a second predetermined aperture. The invention can provide substantially homogenous light transmission, both as a source of light for optical systems and as a collector of light from a sample.

摘要: Determining spatial information about a part includes positioning the part in a fixture having two reference surfaces, where the part is positioned between the two reference surfaces, imaging the two reference surfaces and opposing surfaces of the part to different locations of a multi-element detector, simultaneously acquiring images of the opposing sides of the part and the two reference surfaces using the multi-element detector, and determining spatial information about the part based on the simultaneously acquired images.

摘要: Optical instruments having, inter alia, optics to process wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation to produce an interferogram. The instruments include at least one optical path and optical elements positioned along this path for splitting the electromagnetic radiation and spectrally dispersing the wavelengths to produce first and second sets of spectrally dispersed beams which interfere with each other to produce a plurality of different fringes of different wavelengths. The optics for dispersing the wavelengths includes a matched pair of gratings. The gratings may be reflective or they may be transmissive. The optics also includes a beam splitter and first and second mirrors. The gratings may be positioned in a variety of locations along the optical path. The instruments can also include a detector for detecting the interferogram and means for processing the detected interferogram to produce spectral information.
