    摘要: An internal combustion engine including an intake system for providing a supply of intake gas to the engine, an exhaust system for exhausting combustion gas from the engine as exhaust gas and an engine control system. The engine control system includes an exhaust gas sensor provided in the exhaust system of the engine for producing an electric signal which corresponds to the concentration of a constituent in the engine exhaust gas, a regulating device for regulating at least one of factors which affects operating conditions of the engine, and a control circuit which includes a comparator for comparing the electric signal with a first reference value to produce a control signal, a discriminating circuit including an operation circuit for performing operations to obtain rate of change in a unit time of the electric signal and produce a sensor activated signal when the rate of change of the electric signal is greater than a second predetermined value and a signal holding circuit for holding the sensor activated signal until the engine is stopped, a gate circuit responsive to the sensor activated signal applied from the signal holding circuit and allowing to pass the control signal from the comparator to the regulating device to control the regulating device under the control signal.

    摘要: A Karman vortex generator is disposed in the air intake passage of an internal combustion engine. The frequency of the Karman vortex generated by the generator is detected by a Karman vortex frequency detector to measure the flow rate of intake air. The frequency of the Karman vortex is in proportion to the flow rate of intake air with a Strouhal number being the constant of proportionality thereof. However, when the flow rate or the flow velocity of intake air is within a certain range, the Strouhal number fluctuates and the proportionality between the Strouhal number and the flow rate of intake air is broken. This range is shifted when the kinematic viscosity of intake air changes. The kinematic viscosity of intake air depends upon the temperature thereof. Thus, the temperature of intake air is detected, and the output of the Karman vortex frequency detector is corrected when the air flow velocity represented by the output of the Karman vortex frequency detector is in such a range as to vary the Strouhal number taking into account the shift of such range due to the change of the kinematic viscosity of intake air.

    摘要: An acceleration detecting system for an internal combustion engine comprises air flow determining elements for determining intake air mass flow in an inlet channel provided to the engine and acceleration judging circuitry for judging an accelerating condition of the engine on the strength of an output of the air flow determining elements. The acceleration judging circuitry includes circuitry for detecting variations in the output of said air flow determining elements at intervals of a first predetermined period to produce a first variation output, circuitry for finding a first condition wherein the first variation output is equal to or larger than a first predetermined value, circuitry for detecting variations in the output of the air flow determining elements at intervals of a second predetermined period shorter than the first predetermined period or continuously to produce a second variation output, circuitry for finding a second condition wherein the second variation output is equal to or larger than a second predetermined value, and circuitry for sending out an acceleration signal when the first condition is found and in addition the second condition is found successively during a period which almost corresponds in duration to the first predetermined period and in which the first condition is found.

A preset value generating means generates a plurality of preset values with respect to the value of the engine parameter to be controlled, the preset values corresponding to different degrees of deviation of the engine parameter to be controlled from the normal region. An output signal generating means generates an output when the detected value of the engine parameter to be controlled exceeds one of the preset values for a predetermined time interval. The predetermined time interval is determined for each preset value so that it increases as the degree of deviation of the factor to be controlled from the normal region is reduced. A control means controls an engine parameter affecting the engine parameter to be controlled to move the value of the same toward the normal region when the output signal is generated.

The control system includes a transmission control unit having a plurality of shift patterns including a first shaft pattern favored for a cold engine and a second shift pattern favored for an engine after warm-up, an oil sensor for detecting the temperature of hydraulic oil contained in or supplied to the torque converter, a timer for counting the time period after engine starting, and a CPU for selecting either the first or second shift pattern. The first shaft pattern is selected when the temperature of hydraulic oil is less than a preset value, whereas the second shift pattern is selected when the time set by the timer is up.
