Abstract: An internal combustion engine system includes an internal combustion engine, a first turbine unit receiving exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine, the turbine unit having a compressor for compressing intake air and feeding the intake air by an air intake line to the internal combustion engine, and an exhaust gas recirculation line connecting the air intake line with an exhaust as line of the internal combustion engine at a position upstream the first turbine unit. A bypass line connects the exhaust gas recirculation line to the exhaust gas line at a position downstream of the turbine unit, the bypass line having an arrangement for controlling the exhaust gas flow from the exhaust gas recirculation line to the exhaust gas line.

Abstract: Provided herein is internal combustion engine system including: an internal combustion engine; a turbocharger turbine operatively connected to a turbocharger compressor; an air intake system; an exhaust gas system; an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) conduit; an EGR valve; and a turbomachine arranged in the EGR conduit. Further, the EGR valve and the turbomachine are positioned in relation to each other in the EGR conduit such that a flow of high pressure exhaust gas through the EGR conduit towards the air intake system reaches the EGR valve before reaching the turbomachine; an additional exhaust gas conduit is arranged between the EGR conduit and a point of the exhaust system downstream the turbocharger turbine so as to allow exhaust gas to flow.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine system includes an internal combustion engine, an exhaust system, an exhaust gas recirculation circuit and a turbocharger including a first turbine interacting with a first compressor for charging air to the internal combustion engine. An exhaust gas recirculation passage is arranged to divert exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine upstream the first turbine and to debouch the exhaust gases downstream the first compressor. The internal combustion engine includes a bleed air channel which is located to divert compressed air at a location in or downstream from the first compressor and upstream of the internal combustion engine. A second turbine is arranged for receiving bleed air from the bleed air channel to recover energy from the bleed air channel. A vehicle including such an internal combustion engine system is also provided.

Abstract: The invention relates to an internal combustion engine comprising a crankshaft, one or more cylinders including a cylinder head, a piston, a combustion chamber, one or more intake valves, one or more exhaust valves, an intake system configured for feeding intake air to the engine, an exhaust system configured for conveying exhaust gas away from the engine, a pressure charging system connected to the intake system and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system arranged to feed branched off exhaust gas from the exhaust system to the intake system via an EGR conduit wherein: * the internal combustion engine includes a valve actuation device configured to allow for late or early closing of the intake valves in accordance with late or early Miller-type valve timing, and wherein * the EGR system includes a gas feeding device configured to feed exhaust gas through the EGR conduit in modes of operation wherein the pressure in the intake system exceeds the pressure in the exhaust system, * wherein the gas feeding device is a displacement pump and wherein the gas feeding device is arranged so that exhaust gas recirculating in the EGR system during operation of the engine passes the gas feeding device before being mixed with intake air in the intake system. Additionally, a method of improving efficiency of an internal combustion engine is described.
