摘要: A method of manufacturing an exhaust gas sensor includes providing a sensor element having an open end, a closed end, and an inner surface defining a chamber between the open and closed ends. The method further includes inserting a nozzle into the chamber, supplying an electrode material to the nozzle, and without substantially any relative movement between the nozzle and the sensor element, atomizing the electrode material to form a mist of electrode material that substantially surrounds the tip of the nozzle and deposits onto the inner surface of the sensor element to form an inner electrode.

摘要: An unheated planar sensor element for determining the concentration of a gas component in a gas mixture, in particular the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, has a sensor foil made of a solid electrolyte with an outer electrode exposed to the measuring gas, and an inner electrode exposed to a reference gas, as well as a reference-gas channel, which is covered by the sensor foil on one side and accommodates the inner electrode. To produce a small-volume, cost-effective unheated sensor element for use in small combustion engines having low power output yet sufficiently satisfactory measuring accuracy, the reference-gas channel is sealed on the underside by an additional sensor foil made of a solid electrolyte, and covered by an inner electrode lying inside the reference-gas channel and an outer electrode exposed to the measuring gas.

摘要: A thermal shock protected gas sensor includes a body, a ceramic sensor element positioned in the body, and a protection tube. Thermal shock protection against liquid water impingement on the hot ceramic sensor element is provided by a sleeve of ceramic fiber woven fabric positioned between the ceramic sensor element and the protection tube, and an annular gap between the ceramic sensor element and the protection tube on at least one side of the sleeve. Alternately, thermal shock protection is provided by a porous monolithic cast ceramic layer between the ceramic sensor element and the protection tube.

摘要: A valve bush for a dynamic multi-port valve comprises a plurality of separately formed hollow cylindrical plastics segments interengaged in end-to-end relationship to form the bush, the or each intermediate set of small diameter apertures being in the form of a plurality of apertures, for example rectangular slots, defined by facing end surfaces of two adjacent segments and by a plurality of spaced fingers extending axially from said end surfaces. A bush of the invention for a five port valve will comprise three such segments, and a bush for a three port valve will comprise two such segments.

摘要: A first masking layer of a first resist is provided over a semiconductor substrate and is patterned in a selected region to provide a masked region over which an airbridge interconnect will be provided. A second relatively thick layer of a second, different type of resist and a third relatively thin layer of resist are provided, respectively, over the substrate. The second and third layers of resist are patterned to provide an aperture having overhanging portions exposing the previously applied patterned regions of the first layer, and selected adjacent portions of the substrate. The second and third layers may also be patterned to provide a region for a patterned strip conductor. A stream of evaporated metal is directed towards the substrate and deposited within the apertures to provide an airbridge interconnect conductor and patterned strip conductor. The overhanging portions of the apertures provide separation between the metal layer deposited within the aperture and the metal layer deposited over the third masking layer, allowing the second and third masking layers to be lifted-off without disturbing the conductors. The masked regions underlying the bridges are also removed leaving the airbridge interconnect and patterned strip conductor.
