The invention is directed to an embossed material and a method of producing such an embossed material by utilizing a coating system which is adaptable to being crosslinked subsequent to being embossed. The system comprises a linear polyurethane that contains sites of unsaturation only in its polymeric backbone and a photoinitiator. The polyurethane is produced by the reaction of a diisocyanate and an unsaturated polyester diol. The coating system is applied to a substrate, is embossed, and is irradiated to crosslink the polyurethane coating and permanently fix the embossed pattern.

The wear layer substantially follows the contours of the substrate with minimum change in thickness of the wear layer over the textured surface and provides an aesthetically pleasing three dimensional appearance to the textured surface of the substrate. The wear layer exhibits significant clarity and visual depth, as well as improved maintenance (cleanability) properties. The resulting product has a visual image clarity reflecting any texture in the substrate including very light reflective (lenticular moray) embossings.

The present invention provides for an acoustically absorbent porous panel that is both rigid and resistant to sagging caused by moisture. The acoustically absorbent porous panel is comprised of at least two layers. The first layer is a facing layer formed from a cured aqueous foamed cementitious material. The foamed cementitious material comprises on a wet basis about 53% to about 68% by weight cement, about 17% to about 48% by weight water, about 0.05% to about 5% by weight fiber, and about 0.01% to about 10% by weight surfactant. Additionally, pores distributed within the cured material comprising about 75% to about 95% by volume of the material. The second layer is a backing layer that is affixed to the facing layer.
