An object of the present invention is to provide an ester-based lubricating base oil for a fluid bearing that has a high viscosity index and excellent evaporation resistance, hydrolytic stability, and low-temperature fluidity. The present invention relates to a lubricating base oil for a fluid bearing containing a compound represented by general formula (1): wherein R1 represents a linear C2-C16 alkyl group, m represents an integer of 2 to 10, and n represents an integer of 4 to 14.

The present invention provides a polypropylene-based resin molded article having an excellent balance of rigidity, heat resistance, and impact resistance, and, in particular, having high impact strength; a method for producing the polypropylene-based resin molded article; and a method for improving the impact resistance of a polypropylene-based resin molded article.The polypropylene-based resin molded article comprising a layered structure including layers A and B comprising a polypropylene-based resin, one of the layers A and B having a polypropylene chain orientation different from that of the other layer; and each of the layers A and B having a maximum absolute value of birefringence of 0.005 or more, the birefringences of the layers A and B being different from each other, one being positive and the other being negative.

The present invention provides a crystalline polypropylene-based resin molded article having an excellent impact resistance, in particular a remarkably high Izod impact strength, and a process for producing the molded article. A polypropylene-based resin molded article with an excellent impact resistance in which the β crystals of the polypropylene-based resin are unoriented can be produced by a process comprising the steps of: adding 0.01 to 0.1 parts by weight of at least one amide compound to 100 parts by weight of a polypropylene-based resin; kneading the resulting mixture at a temperature not lower than the dissolution temperature of the amide compound in the molten polypropylene-based resin until the compound dissolves in the molten polypropylene-based resin; and injecting and/or extruding the resulting melt in such a state that the amide compound has dissolved in the molten polypropylene-based resin.

The invention is directed to liquid vegetable unsaturated alcohol mixture having an iodine value of 88 to 100 and a cloud point less than 7° C., the unsaturated alcohol mixture being prepared by reduction of a vegetable unsaturated fatty acid mixture and/or an alkyl ester thereof in the presence of a zinc-type catalyst having a copper content of 30 ppm or less, the vegetable unsaturated fatty acid mixture being prepared from at least one vegetable oil selected from the group consisting of palm oil, coconut oil and palm kernel oil. The invention also concerns a liquid vegetable unsaturated alcohol mixture having an iodine value of 88 to 100, a cloud point less than 7° C. or lower and a conjugated diene content of 1 wt. % or less.
