    摘要: An integrated security and communications system combines a security system to either or both of a telephone system interface and a data interface. Users have access to voice-mail or other PBX-type telephone functions, many or all of which can be accessed not only at telephone sets, but also at keypads of the security system. Data functions such as electronic mail and possible partial or full World Wide Web access may also be provided at the keypads, as well as at connected personal computers or computer terminals. The system keypads may be enhanced to better accommodate some of the added functions. A central communications station could be used to maintain secure, shared private key encrypted communications with each premises system, using a redirector arrangement or relay to allow each premises system to communicate securely with a central monitoring station and with other systems. The secure communications system could be used without a security system to allow secure computer-to-computer communications.

    摘要: An aspirated-type detector includes a housing with an internal ambient condition sensing region and a sensor carried therein. The housing is perforated with ambient atmosphere inflow ports. A fan or similar device lowers the pressure in the internal region thereby producing a positive inflow of adjacent, external ambient atmosphere into the sensing region. Alternatively, the fan can be operated to inject exterior ambient atmosphere into the sensing chamber under positive pressure. The fan can also be modularized. The detector can incorporate control circuitry for supervisory or signal processing purposes.

    摘要: A method for testing the signal margin of an alarm system during installation of the alarm system and during the alarm system supervision time. The alarm system comprises a plurality of remote transmitting devices and a receiver/control unit. The receiver/control unit comprises a receiver with at least one antenna apparatus and processing apparatus for processing messages received from each of the remote devices. Both the install mode and the supervision mode cause the receiver/control unit to receive signals at a lower level than normal by selecting an associated antenna configuration. When entering the installation mode, the processor switches the antenna apparatus to a "no antenna" state, and when entering the supervision mode, the processor switches two or more antenna apparatus to an "on" state.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus for automatically locating detectors in an ambient condition monitoring system incorporate a normally closed contact for open circuiting the associated communication link. A command can be issued to the detectors and which identifies a specific detector. In response to the command, at least some of the detectors open circuit the communication link. The specific detector transmits neighbor identification signals in each direction on the communications link. These neighbor identification signals are sensed and stored in each neighbor detector. Information identifying detectors which are neighbors to a selected detector can then be analyzed to establish locations of the various detectors relative to one another in the system.

    摘要: A multiple sensor smoke detector includes at least an ionization and a photoelectric sensor. Outputs from the sensors are fed to circuitry for generating continuously variable coefficients. One coefficient corresponds to each sensor output. Respective coefficients and sensor outputs are multiplied in multiplier circuitry to produce processed outputs. The processed outputs are combined in a summing circuit to produce at least one output value indicative of a level of detected smoke. The coefficient generating circuitry, the multiplier circuitry and the combining circuitry could be implemented in a programmed microprocessor. The coefficient generating circuitry could be implemented using prestored membership functions indicative of various types of fires.

The signals can be combined locally and all of the sensors can be carried in a single housing. Alternately, the sensors can be carried in separate housings and combined at a remote control panel. The value output from the humidity and temperature sensor can be used in determining whether or not to produce a delay. Alternately, the rate of change of either or both parameters can be used to determine whether a delay is necessary.

A communications link extends between the detectors. A control element is coupled to the link to receive and process the indicia and to adjust an alarm threshold level in response to noise levels in the system. In the presence of noise, as reflected in relative values of the filtered values of the indicia, the threshold value is automatically increased.

    摘要: A detector supervision system usable with detectors or sensors formed with a removable head and a surface mountable base includes an energy storage device which is carried on each base. The energy storage device is either a capacitor or an inductor, and is coupled to one or more of the terminals of the base. A conducting spring member is also carried on the base, attached to one of the terminals. The spring member is in a first position when the head is attached to the base. The spring member moves to the second position in response to the head being removed from the base. Detection circuitry can detect the presence of one or more energy storage devices which are switched into communication lines between detector bases in response to one or more of the heads being removed. The detection circuitry can signal a central control panel that one or more of the heads has been removed from a respective base.
