The vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer resin composition comprises: 70 to 300 parts by mass of surface-treated calcium carbonate obtained by surface-treating calcium carbonate with a fatty acid or a derivative thereof based on 100 parts by mass of a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer resin having a vinyl acetate content of 8 to 12% by mass, and it is characterized in that a BET specific surface area of the surface-treated calcium carbonate is 10 to 40 m2/g, and an amount of the calcium carbonate surface-treated is 0.1×10−2 g/m2 to 0.4×10−2 g/m2 per m2/g of the BET specific surface area of the surface-treated calcium carbonate.

A method for producing a calcium carbonate comprises a carbon dioxide gas absorption step of allowing an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution at a concentration of 5 to 21% to absorb carbon dioxide gas to give an aqueous sodium carbonate solution at a concentration of 4 to 24%; a hydration step of reacting calcium oxide with an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution at a concentration of 0 to less than 6% to give a lime milk that is a suspension of calcium hydroxide having a BET specific surface area of 5 to 40 m2/g; and a carbonation step of adding the aqueous sodium carbonate solution to the lime milk and performing reaction.
