Disclosed is a highly reproducible method for the molecular weight fractionation of polyhydrogen silsesquioxane that gives a very storage-stable polyhydrogen silsesquioxane having a freely selectable molecular weight. The method involves dissolving polyhydrogen silsesquioxane in active-hydrogen-free nonpolar solvent; adding an active-hydrogen-free polar solvent to the resulting solution in order to precipitate polyhydrogen silsesquioxane; and collecting the desired molecular weight fraction of polyhydrogen silsesquioxane.

The fiber treatment compositions of this invention exhibit excellent lubricity, static resistance, and long-term storage stability.

Organopolysiloxane emulsions are prepared by emulsifying components comprising an hydroxy-endblocked organopolysiloxane having an average of ten or more silicon atoms per molecule; an aminoxy group-containing organsilicon compound containing one or more silicon atoms per molecule; a surfactant and water. The process can be conducted advantageously at room temperature to provide emulsion of high-viscosity organopolysiloxanes. The emulsions are useful as, for example, fiber-treatment agents, lubricants, release agents, glass fiber-treatment agents, lustrants, defoamers, and paint components.

A platinum catalyst composition having improved thermal stability, and all of the utilities of platinum catalyst compositions of the art, is provided by mixing certain organosiloxanes which contain aryl and alkenyl groups, such as 1,3-divinyl-1,3-diphenyldimethyldisiloxane, in a quantity of at least 2 moles, with a platinum complex having as a ligand an organosiloxane which contains alkyl and alkenyl groups, such as 1,3-divinyltetramethyldisiloxane (or a mixture of said platinum complex and said organosiloxane), in a quantity of 1 mole of platinum atoms. In a preferred embodiment the mixture is distilled in vacuo to remove part or all of the organosiloxane which contains alkyl and alkenyl groups, and most preferably to remove at least a portion of the complexed organosiloxane which contains alkyl and alkenyl groups.

According to this invention, a microemulsion of an organopolysiloxane containing cyclohexylamino groups is prepared as follows: component (A), an organopolysiloxane containing cyclohexylamino groups and component (B), a nonionic surfactant and component (C), ethylene glycol or propylene glycol are blended. Formic acid or acetic acid, component (D) and water, component (E), are then added. The mixture is then stirred to form an emulsion precursor liquid, which is then dispersed in a prescribed amount of water. The microemulsion of the organopolysiloxane containing cyclohexylamino groups prepared using the method of this invention has an excellent shelf stability.

The compositions are storage-stable for up to several days at room temperature, yet cure relatively rapidly when heated.
