An example method of preparing a stent comprises applying a coating to a portion of the stent at a medical treatment facility, the coating including a plurality of radioactive elements and a substrate. The plurality of radioactive elements are mixed with the substrate to form a mixture such that the plurality of radioactive elements are dispersed within the substrate prior to the coating being applied on the stent.

The implantable medical device may include a tubular member having a first end configured to be disposed within the duodenum of a patient and a second end configured to be disposed adjacent to a pancreatic duct and/or bile duct. The tubular member may have a body including one or more wire filaments that are woven together. The tubular member may also have an outer surface with a longitudinal channel formed therein.

The device and method can be used to treat compression fractures. The compression fractures can be in the spine. The device can be deployed by compressing the device longitudinally resulting in radial expansion.

摘要: The present invention, in an exemplary embodiment, provides a stent, which combines many of the excellent characteristics of both silicone and metal stents while eliminating the undesirable ones. In particular, a principal objective in accordance with the present invention is to provide a family of stents where the relative hardness/softness of regions of the stent can differ from other regions of the stent to provide additional patient comfort and resistance to radial forces. An exemplary embodiment also provides a family of stents with obstruction clearance and/or radiation therapy capabilities.

摘要: A stent of variable surface area as determined by stent struts. The stent can have a variable surface area per unit length which accommodates a therapeutic agent. A patterned distribution of therapeutic agent can be provided throughout the stent. The stent can have an increased level of therapeutic agent near an end of the stent. A decreased level of therapeutic agent can be provided near an end of one embodiment of a stent. Indentations can be provided at the surface of the stent with therapeutic agent disposed therein. The stent can be cut with struts of variable thickness to provide the variable stent surface area.

摘要: A partial bone prosthesis and methods of using the same are disclosed herein. The partial bone prosthesis can be configured for use, for example, on the superior side of the talus or an end of a long bone, such as the tibia. The partial bone prosthesis can anchor to the perimeter of the contact patch between the bone and the prosthesis. For example, the prosthesis can be attached to the talus without drilling holes through the talus, preserving structural integrity and blood flow within the talus.

摘要: Improved method and apparatus for neutron capture therapy are disclosed, which may beneficially be used to counteract restenosis. An improved stent and a method for manufacturing the stent are also presented. The stent comprises a stable nuclide having a large neutron capture cross-section. When a clinical need exists for radiation therapy, the stent is irradiated with thermal neutrons, thereby giving rise to radiation in the proximity of the stent to a therapeutic benefit. Since radiation is applied by an external source, it can be delivered at any time after placement of the stent and easily can be repeated. The stent only contains stable nuclides and therefore can be handled without the precautions needed when handling radioactive matter.
