    摘要: Described is a catheter system for implanting embryos into a woman's uterus. The catheter system utilizes a protective catheter sleeve for introducing a catheter into the uterus without mucus contamination of an inner catheter. Once the sleeve containing the inner catheter is introduced into the uterus, the protected inner catheter, carrying the embryos, is pushed through a swivelable distal end cap on the sleeve to a desired implanting location. The distal end of the inner catheter has a protective cap and a side opening for embryo release. Also, stiffness and indicia features of the outer sleeve and inner catheter assist in the physician's handling of the catheter system and in ensuring a desired uterus location for implanting.

    摘要: A medical device, system, and method are described for treating in utero a fetus with a lower urinary tract obstruction. An implantable medical device may have a flexible catheter and an anchor. The catheter may define a proximal port, a distal port, a longitudinal axis, and a lumen providing fluid communication between the ports. The anchor may be affixed to the catheter at a position between the ports, and may have a resilient proximal member and a resilient distal member spaced a longitudinal distance apart, the proximal member and distal member each extending radially outward with respect to the longitudinal axis. An elongate delivery member may be releasably affixed to the medical device, and the medical device may be delivered through a tubular sheath defining a sheath lumen.

    摘要: The present invention transmits sounds and/or music to an unborn baby in the mother's womb via a waist belt and speaker disposed within the belt, where the speaker connects to most audio devices via a universal audio plug. The waist belt can also be used to temporarily house/transport appropriate portable audio devices in an internal pocket. The speaker of the present invention utilizes a volume control unit that is separate from a volume control of an attached audio device and that allows for limiting and/or adjusting the sound volume delivered by the speaker. The separate volume control unit is an improvement over any previously known devices because it provides additional safety for the developing baby's hearing.

    摘要: Cerebrospinal fluid is drained from a ventricle of the brain of a fetus and into the amniotic cavity in an antenatal procedure that does not require a hysterotomy, such being carried out by a shunt and introducer system. The introducer portion of the system includes a plurality of components that are slidably assembled and that provide a guiding sheath through which the shunt is passed with the aid of a pushing tool and a stylet that passes through the pushing tool and into the shunt. The hydrocephalus valve within the shunt is radially offset from the longitudinal axis of the shunt in order to permit stylet passage therethrough.

    摘要: Methods and systems for fetal intervention to address malformations or other conditions are presented. In one instance, a method is provided that includes introducing a guide catheter into the fetus' venous system and using controlled magnets to position the guide catheter at a desired location. The method also involves positioning the treatment catheter at a treatment location using the guide catheter and delivering a treatment using the treatment catheter at the treatment location. In one particular application, a hypoplastic left heart is treated by using a balloon catheter as the treatment catheter and inflating a balloon on the balloon catheter at the aortic valve. Other methods and systems are disclosed.
