    摘要: The invention is to shoulder pads having arches that are pivotably connected to the chest and back portions of the pads to give an increased range of motion for a user. The arch is connected with a single pivoting connection on the chest portion and a single pivoting connection on the back portion so that the arch pivots relative to the chest and back portions of the shoulder pads. The arch portions of the pads are manufactured by injection molding so that the arches maintain their arch shape without the need for structural components to maintain its shape. The invention also includes a buckle system for shoulder pads that provide an easy mechanism for a user to adjust and to take the pads on and off. The buckle system provides a generally flush mount which reduces and preferably eliminates any grab points.

The upper body protector comprises a garment capable of being worn around the neck and over the shoulders of said wearer and having an opening therein to accommodate the neck of said wearer, and having an improved strap mechanism comprising a set of straps attached to a back portion of the upper body protector that are fed through a pair of grommets on the front side of the upper body protector and folded back over themselves for attachment to the front portion of the upper body protector via a fastening means, such as Velcro®. The combination of the unique grommets at either end of the strap attachment mechanism and strap shape provide a secure, yet comfortable and adjustable fit to the wearer through a full range of motion.

    摘要: A shoulder pad for use in a contact sport, such as football, hockey or lacrosse is provided. The shoulder pad includes a pair of curvilinear, continuous arch members joined together to define a central opening that receives the player's head. A side pad assembly, including an epaulet and a shoulder cap, is operably connected to each arch member by a flexible band that provides a common connection point on the arch member. The band provides a single pivot point for the epaulet and the shoulder cap about the common connection point. A curvilinear internal padding assembly is connected to each arch member and configured to absorb and lessen impacts received while wearing the shoulder pad and playing the contact sport.
