    摘要: There is provided a honeycomb filter including a honeycomb base material including a porous partition wall parent material; plugged portions arranged in open frontal areas of predetermined cells in an end surface on an inflow side of the fluid, and open frontal areas of the remaining cells in an end surface on an outflow side of the fluid; and a porous collecting layer disposed on the surface of the partition wall parent material in the remaining cells. In a cross section orthogonal to an extending direction of the cells, a shape of the cells is a rectangular shape, and a thickness of a portion of the collecting layer which is positioned in each of corner portions of each of the cells is from one to three times that of a portion of the collecting layer which is positioned in the center of each of sides of the cell.

    摘要: A honeycomb structure useful as exhaust gas trapping filter, particularly, as a diesel particulate filter (DPF) for trapping particulate matter, etc. in diesel engine exhaust gas and capable of effectively inhibiting defects such as cracks due to thermal stress, by reducing influence of thermal stress generated upon use or regeneration. The honeycomb structure includes: an integrally joined body constituted of plural honeycomb segments at joint faces with a bonding material layer, and an outer peripheral coat layer. Thickness of the bonding material layer satisfies the relation: (T2)=(1.2 to 10.0)×(T1) between an average thickness (T1) at positions (X1) and (X2) located at the both ends in the central axis direction of segments and a maximum thickness (T2) between positions (Y1) and (Y2) apart from respective ends in 3 to 40% of the whole length of the honeycomb segment.

    摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a honeycomb structural body for use in a filter, which can be provided with a large amount of catalyst, can suppress an increase in pressure loss upon collecting particulates, can have a high particulate collecting capability and can efficiently carry out a regenerating process and a toxic gas purifying process. The honeycomb structural body of the present invention is a pillar-shaped honeycomb structural body that is mainly composed of inorganic fibers and has a structure in that a large number of through holes are placed in parallel with one another in the length direction with a partition wall interposed therebetween. Herein, the inorganic fibers, which form the honeycomb structural body, are arranged in such a manner that more fibers are aligned along a face perpendicular to the forming direction of the through holes rather than aligned along a face in parallel with the forming direction of the through holes.
