摘要: An exhaust gas purifying apparatus which can reduce or prevent the shifting of a honeycomb catalyst member relative to a cushion member, even if hard vibrations are applied to the exhaust gas purifying apparatus, for example, during operation of a vehicle. In some embodiments, there can be no increase of the radial pressure of the cushion member applied to the honeycomb catalyst member. In some embodiments, an exhaust gas purifying apparatus can comprise a honeycomb catalyst member carrying metallic catalyst, wherein the member can be contained in a cylindrical container via a cushion member. The catalyst structural member can be formed of a sheet-like catalyst structure and can be manufactured by a wet paper-making method. The structural member can be secured to the cushion member by press-fitting the structural member into the cushion member.

摘要: The present invention provides a silicon carbide-based, porous, lightweight, heat-resistant material which can retain the shape of a porous structural body formed of, for example, corrugated cardboard and provides a manufacturing method therefor. The silicon carbide-based, porous, lightweight material is produced by a process including the steps of infiltrating a slurry composed of a resin and powdered silicon into a porous structural body having a framework formed of paper such as corrugated cardboard, wood, a woven cloth, a non-woven cloth, a plastic, or the like; carbonizing the infiltrated porous structural body at 900 to 1,350null C. in an evacuated or an inert atmosphere; and performing reaction-bonding for the obtained structural body at 1,350null C. or more in an evacuated or an inert atmosphere. By the reaction-bonding, silicon carbide having superior molten silicon wettability and open pores caused by the reaction during which the reaction volume decreases are simultaneously formed. In addition, the porous structural body thus obtained is infiltrated with molten silicon at 1,300 to 1,800null C. in an evacuated or an inert atmosphere, whereby the silicon carbide-based, porous, lightweight, heat-resistant material is formed.

摘要: An exhaust gas filter for diesel particulates, comprising a row of a plurality of channels of honeycomb structure of porous sintered ceramic fiber composite sheet, the ceramic fiber composite sheet being produced by a paper-forming method from a slurry of alumino-silicate fiber and fire clay. The honeycomb structure of the ceramic fiber composite sheet is formed by stacking plane sheets and corrugated sheets one atop the other. The filter exhibits low pressure drop yet highly efficient operation by having a bulk density of the ceramic fiber composite sheet in the range of 0.1 g/cm.sup.3 to 0.8 g/cm.sup.3.

摘要: Capillary insulation for low temperature liquids in which a cellular structure defines a plurality of discrete cells enclosed by a capillary cover with capillary openings communicating with each cell. The cell walls and the cover are designed to minimize the effects of strains imposed thereon by providing an excess of material both in the walls and the cover thereby permitting them to deflect without adversely affecting operation of the insulation. The cell walls are formed in an S-shaped configuration and the cover is dimpled to provide the desired excess material. The capillary openings are reinforced by a toroidal rib extending around each opening.

摘要: To provide a treatment device equipped with a catalyst-supporting honeycomb structure, the device being for use in, for example, an exhaust gas purification treatment, hydrogen production by ammonia decomposition or the like, and a method for producing the same. The catalyst-supporting honeycomb structure is produced by forming the inorganic binder-containing functional catalyst-supporting corrugated glass paper without removing an organic binder originally contained in the glass paper and by using the corrugated glass paper in combination with the inorganic binder-containing functional catalyst-supporting flat glass paper. In the treatment device equipped with a catalyst-supporting honeycomb structure, a corrugated glass paper having an inorganic binder-containing functional catalyst supported thereon and a flat glass paper having the same inorganic binder-containing functional catalyst supported thereon are alternately stacked to form the catalyst-supporting honeycomb structure, and this catalyst-supporting honeycomb structure is packed in a casing.
