The device and the method include movement element (14) capable of subjecting the receiving element (6) to a stirring movement including at least a back-and-forth movement along a directional vector extending by a not insignificant amount along the longitudinal direction, so as to generate shear stresses in the complex medium (2), thereby destroying aggregates in the complex medium (2) when a container (4) is received and supported by the receiving element (6).

摘要： A machine which has a platform for a specimen container and is constructed to spin the platform to produce centrifugation of the specimen is provided with a linkage that can selectively convert the spinning to a more complex form of motion effective to produce disruption of the specimen on the platform. Preferably, the linkage causes tilting of the platform about the axis of spinning, thereby providing a conical form of motion. In a preferred embodiment, the linkage is constructed to provide the complex motion when the platform is rotated in one direction and to provide spinning when the platform is rotated in the opposite direction.

摘要： An undulating mixing device for precise, controlled agitation of sensitive biological and chemical solutions provides a base and a platform connected by four flexible connectors, a spring loaded motor mount assembly pivotally attaching a motor to the base, a turntable rotatably attached to the base, a tilt assembly pivotally and rotationally attached to the turntable and rigidly affixed to the platform, and a motor shaft that engages a groove on the turntable for causing rotation thereof. The tilt assembly includes an adjustable collar which controls the tilt or yaw movement of the platform as the motor effects rotation of the turntable. A selectively adjustable speed control switch sets the desired rotational speed of the motor via a microprocessor. The device functions without modification on a plurality of selected voltages and frequencies for achieving the desired rotational speed.

摘要： An apparatus for shaking containers holding samples is disclosed having a motor with a rotatable shaft defining a shaft axis. A rotor is coupled to and rotatable with the shaft, and at least three cam assemblies are coupled to and rotatable with the rotor. Each cam assembly includes a cam defining a support surface, and the at least three cam assemblies are oriented so that the support surfaces define a rotating plane disposed at an oblique angle with respect to the shaft axis during rotation of the cam assemblies. A socket is supported in a fixed position with respect to the rotor, and a ball is retained by and pivotable within the socket. A loading plate adapted to hold the samples is coupled to the ball to allow pivotable movement of the loading plate with respect to the rotor, the loading plate having a drive surface engaging the cam support surfaces. An anti-rotation mechanism engages the loading plate. Operation of the apparatus generates a non-rotational, oscillating motion of the loading plate which reciprocates the samples along an arcuate path.
