The present invention relates to a method and devices for mixing at least two individual streams having different variables. In order to produce a low-loss, effective mixing within a short flow section, at least one eddy impulse is produced in the cross section of flow of at least one individual stream, which impulse spreads out downstream transverse to the direction of flow to form a discrete eddy system whose components transverse to the main direction of flow overlap into the other flow cross section of the other individual stream. This eddy impulse can be produced either by at least one curved surface or by at least one edge of a surface or of a body. The eddy impulse is preferably produced by two burble (flow break-away) edges of a delta-shaped insert element which extend at an acute angle to each other.

An exhaust gas purification device of this invention for a ship 1 includes: a reducing agent injector 61 of a reducing agent supply device supplying a reducing agent to an exhaust gas passing through an exhaust pipe of an engine 21 to be mounted in the ship; an exhaust mixer 62 mixing the exhaust gas and the reducing agent in a location downstream of the reducing agent injector 61 in an exhaust gas traveling direction; and selective catalytic reduction devices 34, 35 facilitating reduction of NOx in the exhaust gas of the engine 21 in a location downstream of the exhaust mixer 62 in the exhaust gas traveling direction. Multiple reducing agent injectors 61 are provided, and respectively have injection ports arranged at equal intervals along a circumferential direction of the exhaust pipe.

A static mixer for the through-mixing of a flow in a line conducting the flow, more preferably of an exhaust system of a combustion engine with several guide vanes. To create adequate through-mixing at low flow velocity and a through-flow resistance that is not too high at high flow velocity, the guide vanes are produced of a shape memory alloy wherein below a predetermined limit temperature the guide vanes have at least one low-temperature shape and above the limit temperature the guide vanes have at least one high-temperature shape, which differs from the low-temperature shape through a reduced through-flow resistance of the mixer.
