摘要: A system and method is provided for direct condensing steam heating of oil sands process slurry streams including viscous bitumen froth and tailings products streams. Slurry viscosities greater than that of water increase cavitation and vibration issues. High solids content exacerbate component erosions. Difficult, and competing, steam and slurry interactions are managed by steam nozzle arrangements and management of steam injection at sub-sonic velocities based on a ratio of the slurry back-pressure Pb and steam supply delivery pressure Po.

摘要: An exhaust after-treatment system for mitigating deposition of urea utilizing selective catalytic reduction (SCR) in exhaust receiving communication with an exhaust gas stream produced by an engine system, including an exhaust passage including a mixing duct through which the exhaust gas stream flows. A fluid reservoir contains a urea solution and a fluid pump is fluidly connected to the fluid reservoir to draw the urea solution from within the fluid reservoir. A fluid injector is configured to receive the urea solution from the fluid pump and deliver the urea solution into the mixing duct and at least one vibration mechanism is mechanically coupled to one or both of the fluid injector and the mixing duct to generate and convey vibrations thereto to mitigate the deposition of urea.

摘要: This invention describes a sulfurous acid generator that employs a burn chamber that acts as a sulfur hopper. Generally, the burn chamber is not in sulfur communication with a sulfur hopper that is separate and distinct from the burn chamber. Instead, the burn chamber may be adapted to hold enough sulfur to allow the generator to produce sulfurous acid for a desired period of time without needing more sulfur to be added to the sulfur being combusted in the burn chamber.

摘要: An ultrasonic liquid treatment chamber has an elongate housing through which liquid flows longitudinally from an inlet port to an outlet port thereof. An elongate ultrasonic waveguide assembly extends within the housing and is operable at a predetermined ultrasonic frequency to ultrasonically energize liquid within the housing. An elongate ultrasonic horn of the waveguide assembly is disposed at least in part intermediate the inlet and outlet ports, and has a plurality of discrete agitating members in contact with and extending transversely outward from the horn intermediate the inlet and outlet ports in longitudinally spaced relationship with each other. The horn and agitating members are constructed and arranged for dynamic motion of the agitating members relative to the horn at the predetermined frequency and to operate in an ultrasonic cavitation mode of the agitating members corresponding to the predetermined frequency and the liquid being treated in the chamber.

摘要: There is provided a reaction vessel whereby silicon produced can be smoothly recovered dropwise without excessive thermal load on constitutional parts of the reaction vessel, a silicon deposition feedstock gas can be reacted efficiently even when the reaction vessel is scaled up to industrial large-scale equipment, generation of silicon fine powder and silane oligomers can be suppressed, and industrial silicon production can be performed over extended periods. The tubular reaction vessel comprises a longitudinally-extending wall with a space thereinside, wherein a silicon deposition feedstock gas inflow opening and a deposited silicon discharge opening are provided at an upper portion and a lower end portion respectively, and a flow resistance-increasing region is created on a wall surface of the tubular reaction vessel that is contacted with a feedstock gas. The flow resistance-increasing region is at least one of protrudent, concave and sloped regions.

摘要: A thermal mixer reduces the temperature of flue gas supplied to a fabric filter. Two spray dry absorbers are operable to cool flue gas. A housing of the mixer has first and second inlet passages for gas from the absorbers, an outlet passage for gas to the fabric filter, and a mixing passage. A set of damper vanes extends in the mixing passage and has a mixing position for mixing the flue gases from the inlet passages to supply mixed gas to the outlet passage at relatively high pressure drop but lower temperature if one of the absorbers in not operating. They have a non-mixing position for passage of gases without mixing and at low pressure drop when both absorbers are operating. The invention can also be used to improve mixing of combined gas streams initially having different chemical compositions or amounts of particle loading.

摘要: Apparatus and methods are described for use in mixing of fluids or mixing ingredients into fluids by means of a static mixer assembly (i.e. without requiring moving mechanical parts, where fluid flow is used to achieve mixing). The static mixer assembly is a cylindrical tube with three pairs of fins extending inward from the inner wall of the tube. The central fins form a prow pointing upstream, with two pairs of flanking fins arranged to prevent unhindered fluid flow parallel to the central axis of the tube a peripheral region, while allowing unobstructed flow in a central region and extending to a peripheral region near the inner wall opposite the prow. The fins force fluid outwards along the inner walls from the prow towards the unobstructed peripheral region opposite the prow and additionally fluid spills over the inner edges of the fins into the central region. The resulting flow pattern provides excellent mixing with a low ratio of pressure drop to volumetric flow rate across the assembly. Ingredients inserted into the unobstructed peripheral region opposite the prow are rapidly homogenized into flowing fluid.
