Abstract: The present invention discloses a large-volume ultrasonic tubular reactor including, in order from top to bottom: an ultrasonic transducer for generating ultrasound waves; an amplitude transformer, a tool head and a fluid tube. the fluid tube is provided inside the tool head away from the side of the tool head connected to the amplitude transformer, or is connected to the outer side surface of the side of the tool head away from the amplitude transformer. The amplitude transformer is used for transferring the ultrasonic waves generated by the ultrasonic transducer to the tool head. The present invention enables a low processing cost of the fluid tube, easier connection of the fluid tube to the tool head, and ensures the convergence of dispersed ultrasonic energy into the fluid tube while the length and volume of the fluid tube is large.

Abstract: Supported chromium catalysts with an average valence less than +6 and having a hydrocarbon-containing or halogenated hydrocarbon-containing ligand attached to at least one bonding site on the chromium are disclosed, as well as ethylene-based polymers with terminal alkane, aromatic, or halogenated hydrocarbon chain ends. Another ethylene polymer characterized by at least 2 wt. % of the polymer having a molecular weight greater than 1,000,000 g/mol and at least 1.5 wt. % of the polymer having a molecular weight less than 1000 g/mol is provided, as well as an ethylene homopolymer with at least 3.5 methyl short chain branches and less than 0.6 butyl short chain branches per 1000 total carbon atoms.

Abstract: A nitric oxide generator generates nitric oxide from a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen such as air treated by a pulsating electrical discharge. The desired concentration of nitric oxide is obtained by controlling at least one of a frequency of the pulsating electrical discharge and duration of each electrical discharge pulse.

Abstract: Systems and methods for producing hydrogen and solid carbon from gaseous feedstock. The system includes a plasma reactor configured to receive and convert feedstock comprising hydrocarbons into acetylene-containing feed stream, and a refractory coupled to the plasma reactor that is configured to receive and decompose acetylene to hydrogen and solid carbon. The system is further configured to deliver one or more auxiliary feedstock comprising hydrocarbons directly to the refractory for decomposition into hydrogen and carbon. The energy required to decompose the auxiliary feedstock is provided by the energy released from decomposition of acetylene in the refractory.

Abstract: Apparatus for plasma synthesis of graphitic products including graphene, comprising: a plasma nozzle coupled to a reaction chamber; means for supplying a process gas to the plasma nozzle, the process gas comprising a carbon-containing species; and means for supplying radio frequency radiation to the process gas within the plasma nozzle, so as to produce a plasma within the nozzle in use, and thereby cause cracking of the carbon-containing species; wherein the plasma nozzle is arranged such that an afterglow of the plasma extends into the reaction chamber, the cracked carbon-containing species also passes into the reaction chamber, and the cracked carbon-containing species recombines within the afterglow, so as to form graphitic products including graphene. A method of plasma-synthesising graphitic products including graphene is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of controlling back reactions or recombination reactions of product molecules formed in a dissociation reaction of reactant molecules of a fluid sample, in a reaction chamber. The method comprises introducing the fluid sample into the reaction chamber through one or more inlets, initiating the dissociation reaction of the reactant molecules of the fluid sample in the reaction chamber to form the product molecules, creating a patterned flow of the fluid sample in the reaction chamber to reduce/minimize disordered and/or turbulent mixing of the reactant molecules and/or product molecules in the fluid sample, and conveying the fluid sample comprising the product molecules out from the reaction chamber through one or more outlets.

Abstract: The disclosure deals with system/apparatus and corresponding and/or associated method for an open plasma reactor assembly provided to study pulsed reactive species produced in a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) in He—H2O and He—H2O—O2 mixture in atmospheric conditions using photo fragmentation laser-induced fluorescence (PFLIF). The objective is to detect and quantify hydroxyl radicals and hydrogen peroxide produced in the DBD. An OH laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) signal is acquired from LIF (using 282 nm laser) whereas LIF from OH generated from H2O2 is measured by from the PFLIF signal (using 213 nm+ 282 nm lasers). A known concentration of H2O2 in He serves to calibrate for H2O2 while the OH is calibrated with a chemical model. For both gas mixtures, there is both OH and H2O2 production in the discharge, while the H2O2 concentration was noticeably increased for the added O2 case.

The apparatus comprises an ignition assembly that comprises readily interchangeable electrode cassettes and that may be configured to self-clean in between the combustion cycles in which the particulate materials are generated. Methods of generating the particulate materials require low energy inputs in order to initiate the combustion reaction, which is then self-sustaining until the reactants are depleted.
