摘要： A reactor and process for production of hydrogen gas from a carbon-containing fuel in a reaction that generates carbon dioxide is described. The carbon-containing fuel can be, for example, carbon monoxide, alcohols, oxygenates bio-oil, oil and hydrocarbons. In preferred embodiments, the reactor includes a monolithic structure form with an array of parallel flow channels. Methods of using the reactor are also described. In the reactor apparatus of the present invention, the catalytic reaction for hydrogen formation is conducted in conjunction with a carbonation reaction that removes carbon dioxide that is produced by the reactor. The carbonation reaction involves reaction of the carbon dioxide produced from the hydrogen formation reaction with metal oxide-based sorbents. The reactor apparatus can be periodically regenerated by regeneration of the sorbent. A carbon dioxide sorbent system comprising a solid sorbent and a eutectic, mixed alkali metal molten phase is also described.

摘要： The invention relates to a method for producing syngas in an alternating operation between two operating modes. The method has the steps of providing a flow reactor; endothermically reacting carbon dioxide with hydrocarbons, water, and/or hydrogen in the flow reactor, at least carbon monoxide being formed as the product, under the effect of heat generated electrically by one or more heating elements (110, 111, 112, 113); and at the same time exothermically reacting hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and/or hydrogen as reactants in the flow reactor. The exothermic reaction releases a heat quantity Q1, the electric heating of the reactor releases a heat quantity Q2, and the exothermic reaction and the electric heating of the reactor are operated such that the sum of Q1 and Q2 is greater than or equal to the heat quantity Q3 which is required for an equilibrium yield Y of the endothermic reaction of ≧90%.

摘要： A device for use in processing of a liquid and/or gas stream. The device is made up of a monolithic structure having active powder for treating streams. The structure has an inlet end and an outlet end and a multiplicity of cells extending from inlet end to outlet end. The cells are separated from one another by porous walls, a portion of the total number of cells being plugged in a pattern such that a stream enters the device through the unplugged cells at the inlet end and passes through at least two porous walls and the active powder in-between, and thereafter passes out of the device through unplugged cells at the outlet end. The device finds use in a number of applications including ion exchange, adsorption, biological and chemical reactions, and catalytic applications.
