Abstract: An autonomous vehicle and a drone-based emergency response method thereof are provided. The autonomous vehicle includes a communication device that supports communication with a drone and a detection device that detects vehicle status information and driving environment information. A processing device detects an emergency situation occurring on a road based on the vehicle status information and the driving environment information while autonomous driving and performs a response logic matching the recognized emergency situation using the drone.

Abstract: A tactical system includes a first HUD system mountable to a first weapon and a second HUD system mountable to a second weapon. The first HUD system includes sensors providing position and orientation data of the first weapon, a processor to calculate a target position based on the position and orientation data, and a communications module to communicate the target position over a network. The second HUD system includes sensors providing position and orientation data of the second weapon, a communications module configured to import the target position from the network, and a processor to: calculate a position and an orientation of the second weapon based on the position and orientation data of the second weapon; calculate a target vector based on the target position and the position of the second weapon; and generate a target finder visualization based on the target vector and the orientation of the second weapon.

Abstract: A system can include a flight controller for an aircraft that includes an electric motor that drives blades with a variable pitch, where the flight controller receives a command to change a flight characteristic of the aircraft and creates a torque command and a revolutions per minute (RPM) command. The system can also include a propulsion assembly, where the propulsion assembly creates a current command based at least in part on the torque command and the RPM command, creates a blade pitch command based at least in part on the torque command and the RPM command, communicates the current command to the electric motor to change a mechanical output of the electric motor, and communicates the blade pitch command to blade actuators to control the pitch of the blades. The current command and the blade pitch command cause the blades of the aircraft to rotate at a predetermined RPM.

Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle includes: a sensor including at least a microphone that generates sound data; and a processor. The processor determines a quality of a target sound by using the sound data generated by the microphone, acquires a positional relationship between the unmanned aerial vehicle and a sound source of the target sound by using data generated by the sensor, determines a destination to which the sound source is to move based on the quality of the target sound and the positional relationship, and presents target movement information that prompts the sound source to move toward the destination.

Abstract: A UAV having a manual gimbal including a camera, and a flight mode selector configured to select both a flight mode and manually establish a camera position as a function of the selected fight mode. A controller responds to a position of the gimbal or selector to establish the flight mode. The flight mode is selected from several available modes, for example, a horizontal flight mode, a 45-degree flight mode, and a vertical (aerial) flight mode. The flight mode selector is mechanically coupled to the gimbal and establishes a pitch angle of the gimbal, and thus the camera angle attached to the gimbal.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods to detect objects within an environment by an aerial vehicle. An aerial vehicle may detect objects within an environment based on propeller noises emitted by the aerial vehicle that are reflected back to the aerial vehicle by objects in the environment. The propeller noise may be noise that is generated during normal operation of one or more propellers. The propeller noise emitted by the propellers of the aerial vehicle propagates into the environment around the aerial vehicle and reflects off any objects within the environment. Because the noise generated by each propeller is distinguishable, sets of solutions (distance and all directions) may be computed for each propeller. The intersections of those sets of solutions is representative of the actual distance and direction of the object with respect to the aerial vehicle.
