    摘要: An automatic splicing system is provided that includes a motor (20a) for rotating an active roll (R1) while a web (P1) is drawn from the roll (R1) toward a cigarette rod-manufacturing machine, a motor (20b) for rotating a standby roll (R2) when a residual of the roll (R1) reaches a predetermined amount or less so that a web (P2) is fed from the roll (R2), a splicing section (70) splicing the webs (P1; P2) and changing over the feeding of web from the roll (R1) to the roll (R2) when feed speeds of the webs match each other, and suction casings (42) disposed on feed paths of the webs, respectively, the suction casings drawing the webs thereinto temporarily. The rotational speeds of the motors (20a and 20b) are controlled so as to maintain drawn amounts of the webs in the respective suction casings (42) within a predetermined range.

    摘要: A belt-like material stably transferring apparatus an absorbing and feeding apparatus for continuously absorbing and feeding the belt-like material by use of a difference in air pressure. The absorbing and feeding apparatus comprises a reserving chamber for absorbing and feeding the belt-like material to be reserved therein, and a pressure detecting chamber connected to the reserving chamber through a slit. The reserving chamber has an opening portion for feeding the belt-like material, and blowers and are connected at a position, which is opposite to the opening portion. The pressure of the pressure detecting chamber is changed in accordance with the change of the pressure in the reserving chamber connected to the pressure detecting chamber through the slit. The pressure of the reserving chamber is changed in accordance with the amount of absorbing and feeding the belt-like material absorbed and fed to the reserving chamber. Due to this, the pressure of the pressure detecting chamber is detected by pressure detectors, thereby the amount of absorbing and feeding the belt-like material absorbed and fed to the reserving chamber is detected. The belt-like material stably transferring apparatus comprise analog cards for controlling the amount of supplying the belt-like material based on the amount of absorbed and fed belt-like material.

    摘要: A vacuum box (38) is provided with recesses (86, 88, 90, 92) on the inner surfaces (74, 76) of its front and/or back walls (40, 42) along at least two of its interior corners (78, 80, 82, 84); so that, the pressures on opposite sides of the incoming and outgoing spans (64.sub.i, 64.sub.o) of the web (50) are substantially equalized at discrete locations along the lengths of the spans, whereby differential pressure applied to the central curved loop (64) between the spans causes the incoming and outgoing spans to remain substantially out of contact with the side walls (40, 42). The side walls (44, 46) may be provided with chamfers (154, 156) at the interior corners or bores (158; 166-172) and ports (160-164; 174-180) to facilitate equalization of the pressure to facilitate equalizing the pressure on opposite sides of webs having a transverse curl toward a centerline of the box. The box may include web keepers (102) to retain the web during thread-up and a removable, sound insulated closure (130). A method of operating such a vacuum box is taught.
