    摘要: Chlorinated and chlorosulfonated polyethylenes are produced by chlorinating substantially linear olefin polymers having a melt flow ratio, I.sub.10 /I.sub.2, .gtoreq.5.63, a molecular weight distribution, M.sub.w /M.sub.n, defined by the equation: M.sub.w /M.sub.n .ltoreq.(I.sub.10 /I.sub.2)-4.63, a critical shear rate at onset of gross melt fracture of at least 50 percent greater than the critical shear rate at the onset of surface melt fracture of a linear olefin polymer having about the same I.sub.2 and M.sub.w /M.sub.n and at least about 0.01 long chain branches/1000 carbons and a molecular weight distribution from about 1.5 to about 2.5 and their method of manufacture are disclosed. The chlorosulfonated polyethylenes are produced by treating the chlorinated polyethylenes with a mixture of gaseous chlorine and sulfur dioxide.

    摘要: A novel process for the preparation of a chlorinated polyolefin having excellent low temperature characteristics and brightness is provided which comprises allowing a polyolefin dissolved or suspended in a solvent to undergo chlorination reaction with chlorine gas or chlorinated sulfuryl in the presence of a radical initiator as a catalyst, characterized in that as said solvent there is used 1,1,2-trichloroethane and the temperature is controlled to 90.degree. C. or lower at the process for removing hydrogen chloride and/or sulfur dioxide by-produced during the reaction from the reaction system. A further process for the preparation of a chlorosulfonated polyolefin having excellent low temperature characteristics and brightness is provided which comprises allowing a polyolefin dissolved or suspended in a solvent to undergo chlorosulfonation reaction with chlorine and sulfur dioxide, chlorine and sulfuryl chloride, sulfuryl chloride alone, chlorine, sulfur dioxide and sulfuryl chloride or sulfuryl chloride and sulfur dioxide in the presence of a radical initiator as a catalyst, characterized in that as said solvent there is used 1,1,2-trichloroethane and the temperature is controlled to 90.degree. C. or lower at the process for removing hydrogen chloride and/or sulfur dioxide by-produced during the reaction from the reaction system.

    摘要: An excellent cold-proof chlorosulfonated polyethylene and a method of manufacturing the same featured in that a polyethylene is once dissolved in a solvent by heating up them over a dissolution temperature of the polyethylene, then cooled and thus obtained homogeneous solution of the polyethylene is allowed to react with a sulfuryl chloride in the presence of a catalyst of a radical generating agent in the dissolution temperature region of the polyethylene or in a temperature region lower than the former one.
