摘要:
HERV-K human endogenous retroviruses show up-regulated expression in tumors. In particular, splicing events in the env region generate a series of transcripts which utilize the +2 reading frame, relative to the env reading frame. The proteins show activity typical of transcriptional regulators, and they also have oncogenic potential. Two related proteins, PCAP2 and PCAP3, are strongly associated with breast cancer and prostate cancer, respectively. PCAP4 stimulates cell division. These proteins can be used in cancer diagnosis and therapy, and are also drug targets e.g. for adjuvant therapy. The identification of these splice products is remarkable because full sequence information has been available for HERV-K viruses since 1986.

The present invention relates to functional, replication-competent full-length proviral PERV-A and PERV-B clones isolated directly from the pig genome, i.e. nullnativenull PERV and allows the comparison of proviral PERV sequences from different origins on the molecular, structural and cellular level.
摘要:
Nucleotide sequences and fragments which code for a human endogenous retrovirus which is infectious. “Fragments” according to the present invention relate also to specific fragments of the sequences inserted into the vector pCR4-Topo and deposited as MERV-env, MERV-gag, MERV-prt and MERV-pol as mentioned above. Additionally, methods of using such sequences, polypeptides encoded by such sequences, antibodies directs against such sequences, and methods and compositions relating to the same are all contemplated.

The present invention features an isolated, intact virus associated with human lymphoma, and originally isolated from a mantle cell lymphoma, referred to herein as a mantle histiocyte retrovirus (MHRV). The invention also features compositions and methods for detecting MHRV, as well as methods and compositions for propagating MHRV in vitro, screening for anti-MHRV agents, and generation of attenuated MHRV strains.

The present invention relates first, to the identification of a novel retrovirus and the novel nucleotide sequences encoding a retroviral polymerase gene (POL nucleotides) associated with the existence of MDS and MDS associated disorders. The present invention further relates to methods for using the MDS associated retroviral nucleotides for the detection of MDS and MDS associated disorders in patient samples. The present invention also relates to methods for using and targeting the MDS associated retroviral POL nucleotides in gene therapy protocols for the treatment of MDS and MDS associated disorders in patients in need of such treatment. The present invention further relates to diagnostic protocols and kits for the detection of MDS and MDS associated disorders in tissue samples.
摘要:
A method for the detection of the presence or absence of antibodies which bind to antigens of an NMA virus indicative of Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome is disclosed. This method comprises contacting a solution containing antigens of an NMA virus with a biological sample of a patient and detecting the antibody-antigen complexes. Methods for detection of the presence or absence of antigens or nucleic acid sequences specific to an NMA virus are also disclosed. A substantially purified preparation of an NMA virus and a human cell line chronically infected with an NMA virus are also disclosed.

A novel retrovirus isolated from human lymphoma cells is disclosed. The retrovirus is characterized by a C-type retroviral particle of approximately 100 nm diameter; and an approximately 27,000 molecular weight p24 core protein. Also disclosed are cell lines from which the virus can be obtained and screening methods for detecting the presence of the virus in human sera.
