    摘要: A gel-forming corrosion inhibiting composition may be employed to protect a metal article from corrosion. The gel-forming corrosion inhibitor composition is combined with water and delivered to an enclosed space at least partially defined by the metal article. Subsequent to delivery, the combination forms a gel to sustainably fill the enclosed space, thereby protecting the metal article from corrosion.

    摘要: Oxygen scavenger which can exhibit excellent oxygen reduction effect in a wide variety of conditions is provided as an alternative volatile oxygen scavenger to hydrazine. The oxygen scavenger contains a heterocyclic compound having N-substituted amino group such as 1-amino-4-methylpiperazine and a hydroxylamine compound such as N,N-diethylhydroxylamine. The oxygen scavenger may further contain a polyhydric phenol type catalyst such as pyrogallol. By adding the oxygen scavenger to feed water of a water system of a boiler, oxygen reduction treatment of the water system is carried out.

    摘要: A process useful for protecting metal surfaces against corrosion in is presented involving: (a) forming a corrosion inhibitor having a compound corresponding to formula (I): where R1, R2 and R3 independently of one another represent an alkyl or hydroxyalkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an aryl or alkylaryl group or a group corresponding to formula (II): A− is an anion, n is the number 2 or 3, p is a number of 1 to 3 and R5 is an alkyl or alkenyl group containing 7 to 23 carbon atoms and 0, 1, 2 or 3 double bonds, and R4 is a group corresponding to formula (II) or (III): where R1, R2 and R3 are as defined above and Z is a group —(CH2)m— or a group corresponding to formula (IV):  m is an integer of 1 to 6, X is a group NH or an oxygen atom and D is a dimer fatty acid residue containing on average 36 to 54 carbon atoms; (b) combining the corrosion inhibitor with liquid aqueous, liquid non-aqueous or gaseous media; and (c) contacting the corrosion inhibitor with metal. The corrosion inhibitor used in the is biodegradable and shows low aquatic toxicity.

    摘要: Corrosion inhibitors comprising(a) an imidazoline of the formula I ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -hydroxyalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -aminoalkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.19 -carboxyalky or an ammonium or amine salt thereof and R.sup.2 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.17 -alkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.17 -alkenyl,(b) a heterocyclic polyacid of the formula II ##STR2## in which R.sup.3 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -carboxyalkyl or an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium or amine salt thereof,(c) at least one alkanolamine of the formula III ##STR3## in which R.sup.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -hydroxyalkyl and R.sup.5 and R.sup.6, which can be identical or different, are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -hydroxyalkyl, and(d) water are outstandingly suitable for the corrosion-inhibiting treatment of shaped iron and steel parts.
