Abstract: A gel liner made by starting initially with a one-piece knitted tubular sock-shaped fabric having a closed distal end section of gel impermeable knitted fabric and an open proximal end section of gel impermeable knitted fabric and being a gel permeable loosely knitted fabric. Molding the liner to have a gel cushion layer on its interior surface with the gel passing through and partially embedding the yarns of the proximal fabric section with the outermost portions of the yarns free of gel to form at least one annular seal whereby the proximal end section forming a seal not inhibited in deformation and/or elongation by the fabric when the liner is worn thereby reducing or eliminating any twisting or discomfort of the liner during ambulation caused by the annular seal.

Abstract: A method of repairing a target section of conduit is provided. First, a repair apparatus is provided with a material structure that engages the conduit. The material structure is defined by a plurality of fibers such that the repair material is flexible and seamless. A curable resin is introduced into the repair material by either injection or infusion depending on the type of resin utilized. Next, the repair material is placed in the conduit in proximity to the engaged aged section or target section of the conduit. The resin in the material structure is then cured, while the repair apparatus is in place adjacent the target or damaged section.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a fabric for the construction of knitted tubular grafts for use in cardiovascular surgery and to methods of manufacturing these grafts. The fabric of the present invention is constructed so that grafts formed from it will have an increased hoop modulus due to the fabric having a underlap of greater than two needle spaces in the bar nearer to the technical face of the fabric.

Abstract: A material for use in lining pipes is disclosed. A warp-knitted tubular fabric (24, 64) in which the stitch used (for example a tricot stitch) is of a type that reconfigures as the tube is expanded radially to contract longitudinally is sufficiently flexible and compressible to enable it to conform to pipe structures. The fabric of this invention is infused with resin, which is cured once the liner is in place within the pipe. Potentially, this fabric may be thinner than known prior art materials, but exhibits comparable strength and conformability, which are necessary characteristics in the repair or rehabilitation of pipes. The use of a thinner fabric material reduces constriction of the pipe bore by repair and also offers the potential for cheaper lining material, as less resin is required. The fabric may be knitted from glass fibre yarn, which is non-toxic and a stronger material than generally used in the prior art.

Abstract: This invention provides a knitted wire carrier for use in constructing a (e.g.) automotive weather seal that incorporates a locking stitch formed from a relatively incompressible and expansion-resisting material that passes through at least one of the warp threads adjacent to the wire weft. In an embodiment, the locking stitch constructed from a steel (or another metal) wire that is solid or braided. In other embodiments, the locking stitch can be constructed from fiberglass, monofilament polymer or another similarly performing material. In an embodiment, the lockstitch wire is constructed from approximately 0.5-millimeter diameter steel and the wire carrier is constructed from approximately 0.5-0.91-millimeter diameter steel. The wire lockstitch can be woven through a center warp yarn that is surrounded by other knitted warp yarns along the overall weft of the wire carrier. The wire carrier is coated with an adhesive, e.g., latex to maintain the knit in place.
