    摘要: The invention relates to an aqueous coating composition, a process for preparing the same, and a coated article. The aqueous coating composition comprises (a) a polymer A comprising units derived from an alpha-olefin and one or more comonomers selected from the group of methacrylates, acrylates, methacrylic acid, acrylic acid, maleates, maleic acid, maleic anhydride, and salts thereof; (b) a polymer B comprising units derived from one or more monomers selected from the group of methacrylates, acrylates, methacrylic acid, acrylic acid, maleates, maleic acid, maleic anhydride, and salts thereof; (c) at least one pigment in an amount in the range of 0.1 to 30 wt. %, based on the total dry weight of the coating composition, the at least one pigment being selected from the group consisting of clay minerals, silicates, brucite, magnesium carbonate, barite, perlite, satin white, gypsum, aluminum oxide, titanium dioxide, surface-reacted calcium carbonates, and mixtures thereof; (d) optionally wax.

    摘要: There is provided a coated paperboard comprising a base board having a top side provided with a pigment coating, which pigment coating comprises a pigment mixture, a binder and a rheology modifier, wherein: the pigment mixture comprises, by dry weight, 0-17% of clay, 60-90% of a first CaCO3 pigment and 0-30% of a second CaCO3 pigment, provided that the amount of clay and second CaCO3 pigment combined is at least 10%; the d50 of the first CaCO3 pigment is 0.60-0.80μιτι and the d98 of the first CaCO3 pigment is at least 2.8μιτι; the d50 of the second CaCO3 pigment is 0.63±0.10μιτι and the d75 of the second CaCO3 pigment is less than 1.2μιτι; the binder comprises a styrene-butadiene copolymer or a styrene-acrylate copolymer; and the dry weight ratio of pigment to binder in the pigment coating is from 100:16 to 100:20.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a method for coating of a fibrous web. According to the method a coating color with pigments is applied to the surface of the web and dried in order to form a coated web. The invention comprises using a coating color which contains pigments having a steep particle size distribution, a maximum of 35% of the pigment particles being smaller than 0.5 &mgr;m. The coating color is spread on the surface of the web with a coating speed of at least 1450 m/min, preferably over 1600 m/min. The coating pigment having a steep particle size distribution gives rise to a coating color which solidifies at much lower dry substance than conventional coating colors. In this way coating can be controlled at high speed without runnability and quality problems.
