摘要: A digital optical comparator has a holder for a part under study. A light source illuminates the part and casts an image of the part onto a camera, which is provided with a lens. The image captured by the camera is displayed on a screen, and a drawing of the part is overlaid on the image of the part. Thus, defects in manufacturing can be easily and readily identified. In addition, a determination of whether the part is manufactured within tolerances can also be visually determined.

摘要: An endoscope comprises a hollow shank, optic viewing means positioned in the hollow shank for observing a body cavity, and a separate adjustable instrument channel which is axially, slidably arranged in an internal guiding region of the hollow shank. The instrument channel has a flexible curvature section and a laterally running end section with an end portion that is pivotably and articulably mounted in a radial passage in the distal circumferential wall region of the hollow shank. Sliding the instrument channel axially in the hollow shank results in flexing of the curvature section and pivoting of the end portion, such that an auxiliary instrument provided in the instrument channel is laterally deflected when guided through the hollow shank.

摘要: A sensor for sensing conditions on an object. The sensor comprises a first at least partially reflective surface layer disposed adjacent the object in close conforming relationship with a surface of the object, an intermediate layer, and a second at least partially reflective surface layer. The intermediate layer is disposed between the first at least partially reflective surface layer and the second at least partially reflective surface layer. The intermediate layer can be formed as a solid element, a combination of solid areas and spaces, and as an aerogel.

摘要: The invention concerns a method for examining a sample whose surface comprises reliefs, and an apparatus for carrying out the method. The apparatus comprises a sample carrier plate subjected to illumination from at least two sources having different wavelengths and whose illumination axes form an acute angle of incidence on the sample carrier plate, the illumination axes of the sources being all different, and an observation system for the sample carried by the plate. The method may be used for measuring the effectiveness of a cosmetic treatment product on a skin.

摘要: An apparatus for detecting defects in patterns, particularly defects in chip patterns of photomasks used for manufacturing semi-conductor integrated circuits comprises means such as a flying spot scanner for producing a scanning light spot, an optical system for projecting said scanning light spot simultaneously on to identical portions of two patterns to be compared with each other, said patterns being placed on a carrier stage, first and second photoelectric converters, each converter receiving the light spot passing through or reflected from a respective pattern to produce an output electrical signal; and an electric circuit for receiving the output signals from said first and second photoelectric converters and subtracting one of them from the other to produce a difference signal which represents detected defects in the patterns. The electric circuit means further comprise a delay circuit for delaying before subtraction one of the signals from the photoelectric converters or delaying said difference signal by a predetermined time period so as to delete pseudo-defects in the patterns.

摘要: An inspection system including apparatus for projecting onto a portion of one side of an object in a viewing station a positionally aligned, unidirectionally reversed image of the corresponding portion of the opposite side of the object. The system is especially useful in noting from one side of an object the total lateral span of a defect, such as a knot in a piece of lumber, which may extend completely through the object.
